Functionality ideas.
I know Valve decides the stats but we can dream can't we?

The main idea I want to bring to the table is it taking up the primary weapon slot instead of the melee. The idea of a heavy without a minigun is daunting I know, but there are already a lot of people that like shotgun heavy and have no primary replacement to support that combat role. My idea is that it should run on gasoline and do very high damage as well as increasing the wearer's movement speed.

This would effectively take away the heavy's advantage of having massive ranged DPS but at the same time increase the effectiveness of both melee based attacks and shotgun based strategy making the heavy a balanced combat class that can absorb quite a bit of damage.

What are your ideas?

purdy much sums everything up, but how fast is faste enough to not be OP but still usable, maybe demoman or soldier speed and/or eyelander range? maybe it would give heavy a resistance buff while active?

I just thought: it gives the heavy speed boost while spun up but uses "ammo" at the same speed of a minigun being fired so it could not be used indefinately, it would lso force the heavy to use his shotgun to dispach of enemies at long range (note: would not be compatible with the buffalo steak as it would be a primary)

Revved Up: -3 Ammo Drained per Second
+20% Move Speed
+35 Max Health
19% Melee Range
Defensive buffs grant only 15% resistance to critical and regular damage.
Use bullets like octain for chainsaw
-DON'T SHOOTING
+40% move speed with all weapons
+20% protectiopn from all damge
+25 hp

+50% speed (less weight if you remove the mini gun)


Negatives

-ability to shoot (show me a chainsaw that shoots a tree down)
5 seconds to activate after put away (gotta rev it up)

look I have an idea how about the chainsaw comes only with a slight speed boost
BUT
It comes with a custom "taunt" that would be a charge taunt kill
how about the Heavy's chainsaw is a HP and speed boost giving, gas guzzling, gibbing on killing melee that has a rev up?

And when you hit someone they(and you) are stunlocked, and that makes this a high risk high reward weapon.

Edit. Just so you know it is a melee.

  • +50% damage bonus
  • +25% spin up speed
Cons:
  • -Can only inflict damage within melee range (Eyelander range)
  • -50% max primary ammo

A melee with a ammo counter is what the Chainsaw is.
Here's a good idea for the weapon anyhow if it's a primary weapon:

Pros:
+50% Spinup speed
+90% damage
Instantly kills melee wielders
Primary fire will make the heavy swing its chainsaw like a normal melee weapon, which will not require any ammo. This will increase it's range or diameter of fire, depending on the swing, but has the firing speed of a normal melee weapon for a heavy.
Alt-fire Revs up the Chainsaw like a normal minigun, ready to mow down people.

Cons:
Is not a minigun, so no bullets can be fired from the chainsaw.
Revving up will also mark you for death.
Is loud as ♥♥♥♥, so ambushing is impossible.
Cannot be crit-boosted
Cannot deal crits.
I like this idea. But at the same time, I don't.

Reason why I like it : It gives another choice in the Heavy's Strategy which is more Honorable.

Reason why I don't : It turns the Heavy into a Demoknight, And they are so annoying.

What about something like this, everyone?

The same could be for the Pyro one and the Spy and Scout(the same function, not the same ammo capacity).
