Garry's Mod

Garry's Mod

Stealth 2.1 (Improved Stealth Mod)
Help Needed!: Add-on is in an almost unplayable state due to a major bug! (on my end)
Hello, I'm having one severe issue regarding the state of this mod, I don't know if it's on my end, the game's end, or this Add-on's end.

This was all ran on All add-ons disabled (except for this mod, of course)

ENEMIES WILL ALWAYS KNOW EXACTLY WHERE THE PLAYER IS WITHIN RANGE
Enemies that I've spawned in the game, will sometimes know exactly where I am, if I'm nearby, even if I'm completely motionless, invisible, and silent. (about the detection range from default half life 2, is how much "nearby" is)
Even when I disabled no-alert mode, they still slowly walk to my position as if they are always suspicious of my location, even if I'm not visible to them in the first place.
I tried to use HL2's AI (NPC) behavior debug, but even that didn't show what was wrong.
I have absolutely no clue what this bug was, let alone if it was on this add-on's end.

I would greatly appreciate if someone else could run the game and test to see if anyone else has this bug!

EDIT: FPS DROP WAS NOT FROM THIS ADDON, IT WAS IN FACT FROM ONE OF ARCTIC'S ADDONS, INSTEAD

I did some digging and found a few things:

The "no alert" cheat and the "ignore players" setting don't deafen NPCs. They can hear you and investigate what they hear, but won't get alerted. Same for the invisibility cloak.

NPCs listen for suspicious sounds even when their AI is disabled, and they react when their AI is enabled again. You can tell by the question mark over their heads.

I should add checks in the hearing code for these conditions.

Do they follow the origin of the sound, or the player themselves? When I used no-clip, it would continue to follow to my location only, instead of where i made the sound.

I checked again, the issue still occurred even if i made no sound whatsoever

The NPC always know where you are, even if you aren't visible to them, and make no noise.

Do that again, but this time crouch-flying. I have a suspicion...

Yeah. same thing happens even when crouch flying.

Looks like their suspicion is caused by you pressing buttons rather than making sounds. I noticed because he started walking towards you when you deleted the camera.

Just pressing buttons? I don't mean to sound too critical, but having every input cause suspicion, even if its something like toggling a camera sounds a bit over the top, but i dont know how this addon works completely yet.

Oh no, I misremembered the changes I made to the code, that's no longer a thing.
In any case, i'm pushing an update that will hopefully fix NPCs getting sus while their AI is disabled. It should also slightly improve performance.

Okay.
Performance wasn't the biggest issue after a hotfix from arctic's add-ons was released. The game was running fine, in reality, about 140-120 on an NTSC-U/C 144hz monitor, it just looked laggy, because i was using the base windows PrtSc recorder.
