Lovely Warriors of Copyright Infringement
https://steamhost.cn/app/1382130/Lovely_Warriors_of_Friendship/

Multiple instances of blatant copyright infringement here, fellas. And it's not even being HIDDEN either. It's right there, for anyone to see.

Steam Direct, ladies and gentlemen.

Wow, not sure if an idiot so called "developer" or a child who thinks its ok to do that. Thats a LOOOOOT of copyright material.
Also its another one of those cheap horrible platform type game that are like everywhere.
That moment when there is a guide before even releasing a game

Well, at least it doesn't look like he's going to sell it.

There is a note on the game's page (under the "system requirements")

This is a free fan game. Credit for everything goes to their respective owners. There is no intention to infringe copyright.

Not sure how steam handles such cases though

As far as I know, fan games, even if they are free, aren't typically allowed on Steam given how they are a MASSIVE liability. Only one that I know of off the top of my head that IS on Steam is Hunt Down The Freeman, because they explicitly got Valve's approval for that. Though in retrospect, that was probably a very bad decision on their part.

This here is a liability of pretty big proportions for Valve to have on their site. Only way it would be worse would be if they had taken stuff from Disney too. It's bad enough they're filching from Nintendo and Hasbro but you DON'T mess with the Mouse's property and expect to walk away unscathed.

It's because the game came out in 2015, on another platform (itch.io)

I'm not sure too, but it looks like all these big name companies didn't give a crap for 5+ years when the game was published on itch.io, but re-publishing the game on Steam can bring a lot of heat to the dev, even if it's a free fan project. =/
Eviction Notice 3 Aug, 2020 @ 8:06pm
These other games by the dev are asset flips:
Covid-19 Snake: Cure Corona asset: COVID-19 Snake Construct 2 - Construct 3 CAPX Game[codecanyon.net]
Jewel Match: Attack of the Clones asset: Jewel Match[codecanyon.net]

Found this thread from my activity feed on Steam. I also wonder what Steam would do to this "fan game", since it contains ripped sprites from other franchises. But I bet if anyone reports it en masse, Steam would delete it in a hurry.

Though judging from the prior case of Eternal Senia, mods probably won't do anything if no one bothered reporting. Since that game has character designs lifted right from Ragnarok Online, but it has been on the platform for years and downloaded by thousands.

The difference is, one title is positively reviewed, while the other isn't.

Got another one, fellas.

Outside of using RL pictures of people, which I believe is a big no-no (caricatures of RL people used for parody purposes are fine but actual real photographs of them are not), we've got more theft of Pokemon stuff, stuff from Indivisible, and stuff from Metal Slug.

It seems like the dev uses the page of Jewel Match to be salty about legality:

https://steamhost.cn/app/1317330/Jewel_Match_Attack_of_the_Clones/

Match jewels for a dollar.
Match jewels legally.
Match jewels originally.
Match jewels willingly.
Match jewels by the game's rules. 🏫

This is a match 3 puzzle game where you match jewels for a highscore.

I spent $157 to publish this. This is not my usual type of creation, but it is legal and therefore does obey this website's "legality over morality" mentality.

With the various interactions that has been had with this individual, kaz, it's more or less become obvious that they have unaddressed mental issues going on. It's sad, and I hope they eventually get the help they need one day.
