This steam features been broken for a long time, other groups i belong to also have events, like skial, you can't disable the pop ups, its very very annoying and they've dragged their feet on fixing this....

again no, its been explained time and time again. key price is not high, its bound to the dollar. ask yourself what metal is bound to, free. what market mechanism is metal distribution tied to....nothing really, you don't get paid more metal because you are awesome ...its just a hand out, so why would it compete against osmething tied to cash. the market isn't oblivious, people who don't understand that communist distribution system of metal can't compete with cash ...thats the problem.

well they lose value in keys, they don't lose value in ref because the ref drop rate is unaltered, its an issue of two separate currencies, one linked to drops, other to the dollar.

Playing the game is what matters. The game does not revolve around money or keys but all this mess with the keys and bad trading is turning away a lot of players. At some point all that will be left is fifty guys with thousands of keys each just trying to scam each other.

If people can't really enjoy all the facets of the game, why play. Remember, at the heart of game play is the desire to access all aspects of the game. That maybe true but when it comes to figuring out who should have what item, and well its a world of scarcity for many items out there, you have to consider such things. For those who just want to play yes, it doesn't matter. Its just a problem when people complain about it, because it just means they don't understand the market or just don't want to. After all if you do not covet, its not a problem...

You can't escape the issue of the world revolving around money if there is scarcity and desire. Many people play this game because of the additional ability to customize your appearance, like it or not...and it funds this game and also increases the player base because it made it f2p. So you can't escape the fact of the money, it makes your playing possible.

Its only a problem if you complain. People covet what is rare, if it were cheap it wouldn't be rare or be more in demand than there is supply. If everyone has something it ceases to be special, so to complain about it means some people don't understand how things work.

I consider them mostly a game of who's left holding the bag....I see people try to trade low craft number craft hat items for key items, its a way of saying your 1.33 ref digit divulger or whatever is worth 12 keys because you have a craft number under 100, so you try to trade it for a bills and see if they want to be left with something they have to trick someone else into taking;)

Ah ok, because its just fustrating, especially the ones that add you to waste your time, you get into a trade window only to find out they thought you were paying 8 refined for a craft hat because they only looked at the @%# pictures! They of course remove you in a hurry because they are "offended" or whatever so you don't even have a chance to tell them to read notes.

I don't think hiding it actually sends the message though. Since you aren't allowed to go into their trades to tell them to stop, there is basically no correction possible, and if you hid it before you thought to comment on the thing, theres no fix for that either. The price commenter with empty backpack doesn't care, he expects to be hidden or ignored, so the message that its an infraction or against the rules doesn't get through unless an admin gets to them to warn them or something.

I guess the harm is in wasting everyones time, by the time one person reports who knows how many peoples time these types have wasted.

So if the admins are overloaded, is it against the rules if I politely explain to these people in their trade that its against the rules to price comment? or is that also an infraction. Sometimes I do hide in haste....so no other reply is possible

As said many times already i'm sure, keys didn't go up, they are the say amount from the store that they ever were, so to lower a bills would be based on nothing at all. Metal rains on everyone in a communist distribution type system, thats why its devaluing, bills and the rest have nothing to do with that.

It has nothing to do with idle accounts btw. Its simply capitalist currency aka dollar money smashing against a communist style metal distribution system. Guess which one wins and which people prefer? Valve mixes more and more money transactions into the system, so the two compete, and metal will always lose. Valve keeps the metal around to serve the non paying type of customer to keep them happy. The only solution that keeps metal high is to make it pay only, but we all know very well that would cause outrage, so people have to just accept the way things are now, cheap cosmetics are affordable in metal, the rest, only for keys.

I've noticed a pattern with price commenters, they almost always have empty backpacks, I think they join and think outpost is a giant discussion forum for them to spend some time lulzing.

And its sad, theres an announcement on the front page, and some people still aren't reading notes....

Shouldn't admins more consistently slap warnings on price commenters so they learn to stop? I'm not quite sure but the last few I've reported, not sure anything happened to them.
