BEFORE YOU REPORT SOMEONE
lol, now you're just being childish.

I've read your comments before. They still don't explain where the problem is in simply ignoring what you regard as "unrelated".

You said it yourself, you cannot define a red line anyway. A comment that is just "unrelated" is not worth reporting. Why is that so hard to understand?

I did not go into your suggestions, because they have been discussed in the suggestion forum before. Support one of those suggestions or make your own, but this discussion is not about suggestions, it is about how the current system should be used.

The only reason you provide is that those making those comments have to be educated and punished because that will make them stop doing something not everybody sees as a big problem, because it only seems to butthurt certain types of traders. I thought my last statement (in my last post - and also said before) would show you how naive that is and that the same argument can be made the other way around.

Or in a different light: why wouldn't the site not also lose those (you call idiot) members being punished for petty offenses - if it even is an offense - if you think punishing those that create unnecessary workload for mods would abandon the site?

Maybe there is a ton more of people, among them those "idiots" and me, that would rather have those wasting their time by making ridiculous trades see gone (see norby89's last post why there is a correlation between ridiculous trades and those that have a problem with price comments).

Who's to say who's the more valuable user for the site? You? Me?

I rather have OP clean of rip-off trades (e.g. ZakMcRofl) than the occasional "idiot" that points those rip-off trades out - but that's just my opinion.

In the same way one can argue that they could simply ignore your trade and move on, I make the argument that so can you with the added benefit to reduce the mods workload.

If you give trade owners the possibility of removing/permahiding, nobody cares to report anymore, you can solve the problem yourself (unlike now, where hiding will actually stimulate most to continue, and the hidden post is visible to anyone), and seeing their effort go to waste, the spammer will stop rapidly too = less reports - less annoyance - less stupidity.

I'm sorry, that's just naive.

The site owner has decided that full transparency, i.e. only mods can truly hide comments, is worth more than your desire for a "tidy" trade.
He (me too) seems to think that your ability to hide a comment from initially showing and your ability to block users is enough to deal with simple rule violations and to keep your trade tidy enough.

And it's surly enough for comments that may not even be against the rules, but you still consider unwanted.

Compare to the definition of SPAM in the rules:

* Derogatory statements made regarding the value of the trade or listed prices.

There is no question here about the first 2 points. But a comment about your price, what this discussion is mostly about, is not necessarily "derogatory". Most of the time they simply point out (in a more or less useful / polite way) what is obvious to an experienced trader anyway. If you already consider that "derogatory", the problem is with you.

I have yet to hear arguments why hiding and ignoring instead of reporting simple unwanted comments seems to not be an option for you.

How would you feel if this rule

was enforced just as strictly as you wish simple comments, you deem unnecessary but can easily be ignored, should be handled?
