Changing account & keeping trade history

I don't have a tag, nor did I do anything to deserve the trade ban. A key seller that I had purchased from for a long time, and had decent SOP rep, bought some carded keys presumably unknowingly, and sold them to me. Due to our longstanding relationship, I was not in the habit of checking his key's original IDs.

Since I'm entirely the victim of the situation, I see no problem with my alt inheriting my rep and doing away with Valve's mistake, but I do not expect Outpost to transfer my account's history over.

With "tag" I meant the SR Caution and the popup that appears with the trade ban status. If the trade ban is deserved, is up to Valve to decide. I guess they have much better insight into what was really going on than any outsider can ever know (iceberg theory). From what I've learned so far, they do not ban permanently the first time in such cases.

From everything I've read so far, you're not "entirely the victim" of the situation. Even you admitted that you were at least negligent, presumably not for the first time.
With the amount of cash trades you did, I guess it was just a matter of time. Since you are not the only one recently, I guess Valve is enforcing their policies more strictly now.

So I don't agree that it's Valve's mistake, it's your mistake to think you won't pop up on their radar eventually as your trade volume increased.

PayPal trading has always been in the gray zone and has always been known to be risky. It is common knowledge that special care has to be taken and no deals should be made in a hurry, as a buyer as well as a seller.

We are all greedy and like to profit from our trading, some more, some less, but the big difference is that most people don't see it as a way to have irl income, it's still just a game.

Changing account & keeping trade history
The short answer is, for outpost and sop rep theoretically / technically by manipulating the database yes, but practically no, for anything steam related, no.

I don't even know where to begin why this is obviously something that should not be done under any circumstances.
I don't see any good reason why anyone would even need to do that other than circumventing bans and restrictions.

I am aware of your situation, samhudson333, but I am afraid I have to say you should be grateful that you even have sort of a a second chance with creating an Alt.

If Valve and SR did not think your bans and tags should be lifted, I guess that has a reason. If the matter is still pending, I see no good reason why you would need to "transfer" to an Alt in the meantime other than even you yourself don't expect your ban and/or tag to be lifted, which would kind of speak for itself.

If I remember, you got trade locked / banned by Valve once before and promised them not to do cash trading anymore, which you obviously did anyway.

I can't dig out the discussion where you said that, as it was moved to the Trash.

I guess you are referring to your 10 pages of SOP rep so that you can continue doing cash trades like before as if nothing ever happened.

While I can understand you would wish that for yourself, I must say I am strongly against it. It would not be fair to the majority of users that somehow manage to avoid all those problems.

I know what your excuses are, but I have to say, you had been warned by Valve before this fallout, didn't you?
And my guess is, that the incident(s) that come to light, are only the tip of the iceberg, especially after reading Penguin's notes about the current Key shortage in tf2shop.

So, since it is so easy to make an Alt, get a second (third, ...) chance and wipe your slate clean, I think it is at least fair that you have to start building your reputation / notoriety all over again. Otherwise Valve, SOP and SR tags / cautions / bans would be obsolete and meaningless.
