Played from start to finish with zero crashes and never dropped below my refresh rate of 165. Certainly the best one in the series, but I can definitely see why people like the 2nd one more.

Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank just outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

I was there day 1 six years ago for the alpha launch and tbh I'd rather go back and play that version than whatever this is.

I'm really mixed about this game. If there was a "mixed" setting for the reviews I'd definitely use it here. I played the closed beta with the thought "all right yeah this could only get better right?" Eeeeh I was a little wrong. The core gameplay consists of shooting robots and exploring a big map and figuring out why these said events happened, but the major problem is that both of these things kinda suck for the most part.

So what's bad about it?

I'll talk about the gunplay and movement first. It's good for what it is but it can really be improved. Many guns in the game still have absurd recoil with highend parts for it and sniping with scopes feels extremely clunky with not being able to change scope sensitivity by itself. The movement can also feel really floaty which is terrible when 50 robots are shooting at you. There's also different ammo types in the world for you to find but none of them feel as if they do anything different besides shotgun slugs which you can physically see only shoot 1 steel ball. Last time I checked there's still a bug where the 5.56 assault rifle is weaker than the AK but it's bugged so the 5.56 rifle is almost 2 times stronger, so expect stuff like that.

There are about 6 enemy types in this game, all of which do insane amounts of damage to you and have unlimited ammo. In solo you'll more than likely get destroyed due to how unbalanced it can be. Even with max damage resistance and health skills you still take 50+ damage from normal tank shots. And believe me, the combat system should NOT revolve around spamming health kits but unfortunately that's what it boiled down to. Since the beta they've also implemented a detection system that's similar to far cry 3's but sadly it's very, very broken. Enemies detect you through walls which is terrible when you walk into a town so you have zero idea what's even detecting you or even how they see you in the first place.

The inventory system in this sucks, plain and simple. Stacks of ammo should go way higher because 90% of your inventory are ammo with weapons which take up two slots. Items also don't stack into your inventory if they're on your hotbar which is extremely annoying. There's also no autoloot button when you open a lootable object so you have to manually click "take all" EVERY TIME. On top of all the UI, quest trackers don't work half the time so you have no clue where to go because 50% of the quests are vague af. The quests normally consist of going to a place, shooting, pressing a button and done so it's not like it's worth doing them anyways.

Considering this is an open world, it's extremely barren and almost not even worth exploring. Almost every single town/house/bunker or whatever is copy and pasted. It gets extremely tiring entering the same house 50 times only to find the exact same small robots copy and pasted into the same spawning spots. Unless the devs literally overhaul almost 99% of the maps towns and whatnot, have fun getting bored within an hour. I also see a lot of people saying add "wildlife" and stuff like that, you know that won't help and they'll make it extremely bland so why even bother?

The only thing that's kept me (slightly) playing is the co-op. And yes, even that is bugged. Any game can be enjoyable with friends but I've pretty much lost interest with this. I've had multiple games where I had a friend join and 15 minutes into the game he falls through the map and get's forced to restart his game. The fast travel system is also terrible as someone in your game has to place down a radio beacon for other players to come to you, all of which these beacons are usually only obtained by breaking beacon towers which aren't labeled on the map. Hope you like walking! (I know they added bikes, they're just as bad as walking cause you can get a skill that makes you sprint faster than them, making them literally useless)

I really want this game to succeed because it really does have a very unusual environment for a post apocalyptic setting which isn't generic zombies or whatever. But I also know they can put so much more effort into this. The soundtrack is also amazing so go look it up.

So let me sum it up:

Pros:
-Some of the best lighting and graphics I've seen in a while
-Unique setting for being post apocalyptic
-It's all right with friends (when it works)

Cons:
-World is extremely barren, copy and pasted way too much
-Enemies are unbalanced af in solo (and multiplayer sometimes)
-Inventory system sucks and needs to be reworked entirely
-Gunplay needs to be touched up and given separate sensitivities for aiming
-More enemy variety wouldn't hurt

TL;DR wait for sale and keep your fingers crossed they listen to the community for bug fixes.

It's like quake but you're in the air. And it's also dead.
