Early Access Review
The first day I spent trying to cobble together a shelter. The second day I was defending my freshly killed deer from hungry mud people skittering all around me in the fading sunlight. On the third day I found a cave full of toothy nope monsters and promptly made my exit. The 4th day I murdered a few of the locals and tossed them on my fire, asserting dominance and fashioning a weapon from their scorched bones. The 5th day my partner beat an innocent woman to death with a stick.

Then I went home and tried Sons Of The Forest. Wandering the map is equal parts peaceful and scary. I had a blast with one friend, I can only imagine how amazing it would be with 8 people roughing it in the wilderness and accidentally setting each other on fire. Solid game worth the price for sure.

After reading reviews and seeing this game was getting pounded by negative reviews (and unfortunately rightfully so) I was disheartened considering I have eagerly awaited this game for some time. My getting my "e-feelings" out of the way, I need you all to know that things CAN BE DONE TO MANAGE THE STUTTERING. !!Please make sure take a moment to tweak the features, like V-SYNC!! V-SYNC never worked well with the Dead Space games, and it's not big surprise here. Run benchmarks and confirm your session will run well before diving in. I got the game to run at a (mostly) smooth 60 fps after 20 minutes of tweaking. I will update this review as times moves on and we get a proper patch, but for now, please remember....

!!!TURN OFF V-SYNC!!!

I understand the frustration of getting a game with a price like this, only to have it run poorly. At least us PC master race users (It's a joke) have the option to manage the settings to increase the frame rate.

There are a lot of decent 5 dollar games out there, and that can be a great thing! But this game here? This game is an absolute blast for the price. It's simple at it's core, go to the place, grab the things, do the thing before the scary thing gets you. But they way they built it reaaaally helps with the replay value. It's great alone (for the masochists out there) but it's a freaking amazing time with friends. I keep coming back to this game, and I sooo look forward to the next update, because I KNOW it will continue to rock.

Worth every penny, and then some!

I only have three hours on record officially as I write this, but I put almost another 10 in the alpha. I am going to write this with what I have experienced so far and will update as I progress. This game is a solid horror FPS, it's got that 4 man team vs hordes of monsters feel many love. But let it be known, this is no Left 4 Dead on medium settings kind of game, this game will chew you up and spit you out with any small screw up. Best played with a cohesive team so you can time your stealth attacks on multiple enemies, share (extremely finite) resources, and set roles to get you though complex maps. You use terminals spread throughout maps to locate key items and resources. You may win a few run-ins with the hordes, but if you keep shooting your problems you will eventually go down. The lighting in this game is a beast of it's own, when it's dark..... It's f*****g dark. You will often be creeping through borderline pitch black areas while you hear the clicks of your enemies all around you, just waiting for your chance to see them emit light from their grotesque, toothy faces. Your flashlight will not always be your ally. Either when it accidentally angers a lurking enemy, or floods foggy areas with a blinding white.
If you enjoy a proper FPS challenge and have a team of friends to suffer with, this game is worth the price in my opinion.

If you enjoy hardcore free for all FPS game play in a spooky old western setting, check this sweet game out. Don't get too attached to your characters either, Permadeath is a thing here.

Typos might be present. No regerts

Hellblade had an interesting buzz about it. People mentioned the game had a protagonist with mental illness. That being said, is added a bit of an interesting feel to the game. You play as Senua, a female warrior, who has tasked herself with seeking a godess in order to.. Well I don't want to spoil it. But she has a "curse" that causes her to hear multiple voices in her head that judge her every move and thought. They quarrel with each other and often provide you with their opinions on the situations you find yourself in, almost like a van full of judgemental backseat drivers you can never kick out..

Gameplay. Slipping along treacherous ledges, jumping over obstacles, and general combat was easy to work with. The combat overall was solid, a bit repetitive at times, but not enough to take you out of the mood. I sure felt like a badass when I got in my groove and slapped enemies around.

Sound. Amazing soundtrack really sets the mood, and the voice overs are fantastic

Graphics. I was stunned with how great the game looked. From the bright hillside views, to the dark and scary caves, game looked damn good from start to finish.

Controls. I myself used an Xbox controller and had a great time working enemies over. The controls are pretty simple, only a few buttons are needed for actions, and the camera is easy to manage.

Is it scary? You bet your butt, that game has areas that had me hiding behind my controller.

I paid full price for the game and I still thought it was a great deal at half the price of AAA titles.
You see it on sale? I'd pick it up. OH and wear headphones!!!

I'm gonna bang this out fast since I wanna get this out here quickly. Apologies if it's a bit messy.

I was informed of this game about 20 hours prior to the release. I checked out some videos and made up my mind that the game looks like it should be within the 15 dollar range (just my opinion) . The following day I got an email saying the game has released, and for 10.49 for the first week. I jumped on it and bought the game.

GAMEPLAY!
This is a top-down style survival horror shooter. You have 5 scenarios, a neat little tutorial, and an "onslaught mode" to complete. In my almost 4 hours of gametime I only completed the tutorial and the first scenario. Having only completed scenario 1, I can say that each one consists of a large map with multiple locked doors and small puzzles throughout, with plenty of documents to read that will fill you in on what is happening around you. Now you can't just assume you are safe because you are reading something, ohhh my sweet child no.. THEY WILL COME AFTER YOU AND THEY WILL NOT STOP. So you'd best not dilly dally or you will become zombie food ( I did a few times -_- ). You have an inventory system that allows you to carry only so many items with you at a time. I had a few tough decisions to make between ammo and health while playing. You complete puzzles, fight monsters, and unlock doors while running for your life and trying to find the exit.

Characters!!

You have four characters to choose from, each with their own traits like high damage resist or more inventory slots.

Multiplayer!!

I played this solo, but get this, there is co-op! You actually get to play this game in 4 player co op online. Imagine splitting up with your friends in order to complete the task at hand, only to hear their cries of help because they were overwhelmed with beasties.

The feel of the game instantly reminds me of the resident evil games I grew up with. Now I am a HUGE RE Outbreak fan, and this game right here fills the void left behind when they closed the American servers years ago.

CONTROLS! Mouse/keyboard, gamepad support

Starting the game, I tried using a mouse and keyboard. It was a bit tough to work with (the game suggests an xbox one gamepad) but I managed to squeak by. Then I decided to give the ole 360 gamepad a try, WAAAYY BETTER! It made for a faster paced and smoother experience. To those giving this a negative review due to the controls, give a gamepad a shot!

My final opinion

The game is a bit clunky, but I was honestly okay with that since I felt like it was trying to emulate the old school "tank control" feel of the game. The graphics are simple but gory in an old school top-down game way. Multiplayer is a huge plus for me since you and three friends can panic together.

All in all, for the price I paid, I can see myself getting 30+ hours out of this game easily when I play online with friends. I look forward to playing this game on harder modes with friends!

I had never played the previous white noise game, or even heard of them. Pretty straight-forward game. There are up to 4 survivors, and one monster. The survivors have to find 8 randomly spawned tapes that make a white noise (HAH! title plug!) inside of a rather large map, while the monster has to find them and MURDER THEIR FACES OFF!! Ahem... The survivors are equipped with a flashlight of their choosing (after unlocking more), a compass, and a throwable glow stick. The glow sticks have a recharge time, so you'd best use them wisely. The survivors use light to burn the monster so they can escape, or force it to retreat by teleportation. The monster stalks their prey with moves like invisibility, sprint burst, and disabling flashlights for a short time. The monster also can create a pod that creates the white noise in order to lure the survivors over, or to distract them from the actual tapes. Any survivor that dies still gets to hang around and help the living by breaking traps, and pointing out tapes. There is more to it, but that's the simple basics of it.

Obligatory Dbd comparison Below

Comparing this to Dead By Daylight is kind of tough, considering right out the gate the game is half the price of dbd when it first came out. Dbd had way more maps at launch, but it was riddled with bugs. Whereas WN2 is actually very well polished and I THINK it has a single player offline mode, which is dbd does not, and probably will not. I had only one bug in my almost 6 hours of play. It also has way more survivor characters to choose from (but only two monsters so far). Dbd gives you some really good tension when the killer is looking for you. But I've got to say that my first round of WN2 scared the hell out of me in a way that only games like outlast, amnesia, and layers of fear have. The tension I had knowing this screaming beast with a stretchy mouth, and a human player brain really got to me lol. Considering this game is a sequel to an Xbox 360 game, that means it already has a fan base, and cant really be following dbd. But that doesn't mean dbd didn't breathe new life into this genre and probably inspired the devs to bring this back. And so far the community has been really really nice, you can really cheese the killer with jumping through windows constantly, but you totally can voice chat TO the monster. In the end, I'd say dbd still takes the cake, but this game is totally worth the price tag. If you are a fan of dbd, and you have 8 bucks to spend, I'd ay it's worth it now.

For being an early access multiplayer horror game, I thought it was well worth the 8 bucks I spent on it.. I look forward to seeing what else they do with the game in the future.

I don't write reviews much, but I felt this game could use another positive one.

I have been waiting for this game for a good stretch of time. When it came out, I got it for 17.00. I can say that I am very happy with the game overall. It's a 4 V 1 multiplayer game (No bots or AI controlled players) that sets four survivor players against one Killer in one of a handful large, randomly generated arenas that look like recreations of sets from some iconic horror movies. The objective of the survivor players is to light up five generators by holding the M1 button and paying attention for "skill checks" ( random quicktime button presses). Once all five generators are lit, a highlighted switch needs to be pulled, opening a large gate for escape.

The objective of the killer is... well, kill everyone. The killer will have important points in the map highlighted, like generators. Seeing the generators will give them an idea of where the survivors could be lurking. There are three classes of killers so far. 1. the Trapper, a spooky mask wearing psycho that sets bear traps to catch his victims. 2. the Wraith, he can go invisible to stalk his prey. 3. The Hilbilly, he wields a sledgehammer and a chainsaw that he can powerup for a burst of speed and murdery goodness. The killers have to knock down the survivors and hang them on a hook that will eventually sacrifice them after a period of time.

The survivors do not carry any weapons to fight off the killers, but they do have the ability to sense the presence of the killers ( via loud heart pounding sounds). The are slightly slower than the killer, so there are obstacles to shove over while you are running for your life. The survivors can work together to get out alive, or they can creep in the shadows and go lone wolf. If all but one survivor has been killed, an option to find a randomly generated floor hatch will open up, giving the final survivor a slightly easier way out of the arena.

Survivors and killers earn levels through matches by working together, completing objectives, healing and rescuing each other, escaping the killer, and a few other things. The points can be used to purchase items and skills via "Blood Web" to use in the matches. be careful what items you take into a match though, if you die, the item is lost.

For the price, I'd say this game is well worth it. One last thing, there is no voice or text chat in the game. So unless you are using a chat program with friends, you are going to feel pretty alone out there. Good luck!
