Useful little reference material, having intuitive knowledge of the space is well worth the pocket change it costs.
I wish the narrator would shut up though.

Bot missions are the worst designed thing I have ever seen from an accessibility standpoint. Traditional wisdom says you make your enemies stand out from the background, but Arrowhead says screw you if you have visual impairment or a sensory processing disorder. Make the enemies and rocks the same shade of black, cover the terrain with blinding lights, fill the air with laser fire from every direction. It's like trying to play that scene from 2001: A Space Odyssey while on LSD. There's nothing for my eyes to work with.

Can't join any servers because the client times out downloading all the meme sound effects, each of which is larger than the map

I just spent the past year failing to get games started because of toxic and/or uninterested friends. I got this game to escape and actually play something fun...and the story is about failing to get games started because of toxic or uninterested friends.

I can't enjoy this.

I know I'm in a deep minority here, but movement and shooting just feels wrong. Sluggish. Impactless. It feels like I'm shooting harmless laser pointers at the enemy and then they just type /kill on themselves.

Painfully barebones. Addons are an absolute requirement, and they actually REMOVED features halfway through development--this game used to have 3d environments. Now it has laggy, brute-force dynamic shadows. That's what you get for using the Torque engine.

Controls for building, driving, and shooting are all some of the worst I've ever experienced.

Not to mention a toxic community that gives Facepunch a run for its money.

Bonus fun fact: This game uses the Torque engine, a truly PRESTIGIOUS 2000s-era game engine that hosted such well-known games as Tribes 2, BeamNG Drive, and, uh...Marble Blast Gold? Yeah that's pretty much it.

This game really dropped, off, didn't it?
The editor is just...simultaneously really unrestricted and freeing, but also weirdly limiting. There are tons of "missing" parts you'd think would be obvious; missing, lacking, or janky editor features--and the art is just awful. Everything has this weird, rubbery sheen like it's coated in lumpy wax; and I don't know if it's the lighting or the color palette of the parts, but everything looks like it's bathed in this unpleasant yellow haze like the sun is made of halogen.

As a builder who's spent over a thousand hours making stuff in this game--successfully, too--I can't recommend it at all as a creative outlet.

Aseprite Seems deliberately designed to be as unintuitive as possible. Every time I use this program it's a fight. To name just a few issues:

- Color management is a chore. All new sprites default to indexed color mode with a locked palette. Reorganizing your palette physically swaps those colors in the image. You're just somehow suppsed to KNOW that you have to change the sprite to RGB mode before doing anything with colors. You know, the DEFAULT BEHAVIOR OF ALL IMAGE EDITORS IN HISTORY.

- Copying and pasting part of an animation pastes BEFORE the currently selected frame. There is no way to paste after, meaning 100% of the time you will have to move the last frame to the beginning of your paste--If you pasted more than 20 frames, good luck finding where that was.

- To move an animation frame or palette entry, you have to click and drag the very EDGE of the ui element. There is no indication that this is how you move things. You have to look it up.

- Rotating your sprite 90 degrees rotates all frames of your animation. There is no way to rotate just the selected frames. Even if you copy the un-rotated sprites to your clipboard first, IT ROTATES YOUR CLIPBOARD TOO! WHY!?

- Rotsprite is a joke. It does nothing better than nearest pixel; the store page example with the bread is tailor-made to make it look good.

In conclusion, If you need to do literally anything in Aseprite, you have to look up a tutorial. 50% of the time, the answer will be "You can't." The program's only saving grace is its animation tools--the ability to work with layers and frames simultaneously and the ability to link cels of animation are a Godsend, and it's an absolute crime that no other programs do anything like this. If Aseprite's animation tools weren't an absolute requirement for this medium, I wouldn't use it at all.

Multiplayer is a blast.

Singleplayer is torment.
