Annapurna is quickly becoming one of my favorite game studios.
This game's demo and the other games in the vid above... are making me want these out now.
That's a positive review.

Cthulhu, the name that brings to mind the entire subgenre that inspired cult-simulators, now coupled with a city builder similar to things like Final Frontiers or other Grid Based city/social simulators.
It's got no real rough edges, it's an excellent execution. It's deep, it's engaging, and it's friendly to new players.
Easily worth the price even when not on sale, if you like this kind of game, definitely grab it on one of the sales.

Has more than enough content to keep you playing for a while, with lots of expansion, a story that keeps pace with your progress, and a nice big midgame. Haven't seen the endgame yet though.

In short. I was not disappointed with this and I'm a big fan of the genre and games of both these genres. Well blended and fun.
Hard Recommend.

First off, this game is deep. The equipment, and the character interactions, and the stats, are all very layered, layered well, and blend between combat and non-combat portions of the game. The game flows very well. It is a well-written and character driven, story rich, role playing game, with amazing art, amazing systems, incredible presentation, and it does it all in 2d, fairly seamlessly.
I've never played a game with no animations to speak of without noticing it. It wasn't until writing this review, that I went to comment on the limited animations, when I realized there aren't any... and I didn't even notice.
That's how immersive, and immediately engaging, this game is.

Highly recommend for the full price. Definitely a must purchase for RPG fans and history buffs on sale.
Very much worth the buy.

Updated Review:
While the game is still educational, and fun, the low-level programming skills you were required to acquire so intuitively have been diminished or reduced to the point I'm not sure it serves the same purpose.

I still love it for the maze solve, but this was my go-to 'Learn Python and Core Coding Skills without realizing you're learning and have fun while you do it" game.. And that isn't as pronounced now. I'm a lil heart broken.

Still good. But I'm long for the OG game style. Wish there was a way to play both.

Original Review:

This is for coders what Kerbal Space Program is for rocket scientists and those studying orbital mechanics.

At first it was simple, then mazes become a literal wall you have to overcome to continue. The feeling I had when I finally I solved my first maze without looking up a tutorial. Thinking for a while, sitting there just thinking about it, trying different things eventually I found a pattern of solutions, that I could turn into steps, and I came up with an amazing maze solving algorithm that blew away that originally offered by the suggestion. I felt huge, and probably have never looked or sounded nerdier. I'm loving it. Definitely recommend if you like logic puzzles, code games, or are up to challenging yourself with learning a skill you probably didn't think you had it in you to learn (You probably can... by the way, I believe in you!)

This game forces you to think, repays you for doing so, and the idea of aspects of coding as a set of unlockables may not be unique or new to this game, but this game was my first exposure to that outside of Exapunks.

10/10.

I do not regret buying this at full price.

What I said to my best friend after I saw this game was on sale for 5 bucks.
Let me know if you will grab it, even if you end up refunding it after an hour... grab it... or let me grab it for you.
This is ONE OF THE MOST FUN INSANE SHOOTER GAMES I've played in MY LIFE.

Note: This game is single player only.

Highly recommend, especially after the most recent updates.
Have never played a game that captures the 'chess like feel' of the aspects of Dune the books.
From engaging in assassinations between great houses, or vying over position and charters in the Landstraad, or being sneaky with your spies and pushy with your military in more traditional domination approaches, the game is quite rewarding and has a high level of rewarding granularity.
Everything you can choose feels meaningful, and each faction has their own unique strategies and approaches to the game.
The variety that the various advisors bring, and the various methods you have open to you for developing and customizing your faction per gameplay provides ample room to play around and explore as well as enough structure that you don't feel completely lost.
Games are long enough to enjoy but not too long you can't finish in one sitting.

Biggest downside for me was lack of clarity in tool tips and having a hard time finding some status data, such as my relationship, with other factions until I realized the GUI uses symbols without tool tips explaining what the symbols mean. Hopefully that gets fixed in a future update.

I enjoy this game, both Single Player and Multiplayer.

10/10 as TBS Grand Strategy goes, definitely captures the books, the original games charm, and brings it all together with an increasingly masterful execution.

Exactly what I wanted from this game.
Was not disappointed.
Some polish and bug fixes will get rid of any existing glitches, but I've run into zero game breaking or progression inhibiting issues or bugs, and with my system, I can't recall any specific graphical errors. I'm not a big graphics person though.
I dig the story and the gameplay and both are good and smooth.

Will Change if Ever Fixed.

Well, I got this game a while ago.
I loved playing it for about a year.
I got into the Online game world.
Went to serve in the military.
Come home, my accounts been stolen.
Never was able to get it back.
Very frustrated. Want to play with friends even today. Can't fix the account, can't change the account key, can't buy a second copy, lost all my progress and my stuff with my friends.

Tried to fix it in vain more than once, over months of waiting and checking.

Due to their data breach, had to go over all my other accounts, found my personal data out on the net, still haven't gotten my account back.

10/10 Great Game, horrible Life Decision in hindsight. Stopped buying Rockstar games as result. But would play again if I could ever figure out how besides rebuying the damn game.

THE ONE REVIEW THAT REVIEWS THEM ALL
I'll tell you something that I haven't seen in any of the other reviews.
You can find out what this game is, what it's about, reading reviews, but it has a FREE DEMO, so why would I bother TELLING you what the game is like? It's small, it's free, try it.
THIS is the TAKEAWAY:

I come back to check on this game regularly, to see if I can find any data about it's release or updates, about twice a week.
That's what this game has that NO OTHER game on my steam wishlist has right now.

So maybe try the demo, and see for yourself?

I HIGHLY Recommend this game. It's just FUN.
