Should've been included in the game not cut out and sold. Overpriced for no reason.

2022 Edit: Seriously if ya'll wanna embarrass yourselves by harassing me over a Steam Review made on the release date of this product, a product I bought mind you, I'm gonna start posting the chats here to prove a point you'd have to be an absolute moron to support this sort've anti-consumer behavior. Ya'll make the arguments against yourselves.

Seriously, there is no debate here. Have some standards, stand up for yourself, demand more. You're the consumer, you're the other half of the free ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ market. Stop letting companies crush your balls when they hardly even pay any taxes, much less pay the devs what they're worth alongside the time for it, if they're not too busy harrassing or blacklisting or firing them. You're utterly pathetic when you demand less and worse for literally, I can't stress this enough, literally, no gain what-so-ever. It's bad for the developers, the actual workers, and it's simply solely bad for the consumer.

And for the last time, no, it's never been about "affordability" you absolute specimens. 200+ games and I bought the DLC? Truly groundbreaking critical thinking skills there.

2023 Edit: This actually worked and the honest to god hustle larpers that pretend their mom's credit card is their stock investment have finally silenced.

Just want to add this for the last guy that added me: Your Steam Library is not Hustle Culture appropriate, you're a gamer (loser).

Mine is bigger, put your little bean away, get a hobby, get standards, have some dignity, stop being a Pay Piggy Useful Idiot, materialism is not an accomplishment but an addiction, grow up, wage theft is the biggest form of theft, the prison industry is a slave industry, and your ♥♥♥♥♥ stank.

Should've just been included in the game instead of cutting it out and selling it.

Somehow worse in every way, and somehow exactly the same...

Genuinely curious how this was released in it's current state, was it playtested at all? Because there's 0 fun factor.
It is not a stretch to say he removed and changed content ONLY, then released it as is.

Even mods won't save this pos. My world is corrupted, and since they removed the ability to change between worlds, that means I'm stuck in what I describe as "boring backrooms" where it's endless houses stacked on each other, and then surrounding me is squares of 1 type of world gen.

Wonderful. Oh, and there's literally no way to fix it! Isn't that great? I've tried everything, and the fun part is no one else seems to be dealing with this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Amateur as hell.

The developer's been cool, like, very cool. Open and honest.
Game is great too, I got it when it was free, but this is a Deal, I'd have expected it to be higher with all that's been going on, but it's such a solid purchase price-per-gameplay.

I really want to start with that, because I've been following development and would actually buy this with the experience I've had (and get to keep) for free. There was a time before they added cosmetic micros, but even those I don't mind because the game's fun, and doesn't feel incomplete without spending more. It's raw gameplay unfettered by business nonsense.

If you remember Xbox Arcade/Indie games, you probably remember one or more games you still see as good purchases even now. This is one of those good purchases, which again, I do say while having gotten it during it's Free period, yet I'd still buy it if I had to.

Safest purchase with actual benefit to the developer that you'll ever make in this entire industry, bar none.
Put it in your Library like it's HL2.

Fantastic experience all the way through.
Survival Horror in the modern age, only took about 3 decades to do it correctly.
7.5/10

My only problems with the game

Scenario 2 is a collasal disappointment, it's just scenario 1 in a different order. Boo. RE2 did it better and more unique per character.

4th Survivor is crap, genuinely awful gameplay, even though it sucked ♥♥♥♥ in RE2, they somehow made it worse in RE2, just use a trainer for it honestly it's not designed in the slightest.

I have an audio bug where sometimes ui sounds just stop existing. It always happens on launch til I save in-game and reset.

Hardcore mode isn't fun. It just isn't. I have tried so hard because my inner Survival Horror fanboy tells me I should, but getting thrown from one enemy to another just to die before I even have half a second to react, isn't fair. It just makes me quit the game.
Every, single, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, time.

DLC complaints

The day one DLC should have just been included in the game, restricting the old soundtrack to DLC is just remarkably scummy. Remake/Reimaginings should celebrate the Original.
Not Market out pieces of nostalgia when your main consumer is your longtime RE(2) fans.

All the DLC is absurdly lazy. The noir outfits shouldn't be split between characters, it should've just been either in the game, or come with both characters for the price of one. The weapons are stupid P2W garbage (yes it's single player, no it's not a big deal, yes, it's really sad to see it in an RE game)

Elza walker is the only one that actually looks worthwhile. But despite the fact they clearly cut out these costumes and soundtrack options to sell seperately, they didn't bother putting in any extra effort that you'd expect when paying for unnecessary polygons and textures. For one thing, there's a single model for the Elza costume, meaning, Sherry gets the same jacket as the default model, and you don't get any change for the Elza model.

If this was just an optional/unlockable costume in the game, I'd be annoyed but wouldn't care.
But since you decided to cut it out of the game and sell it on it's own, how about putting in that extra hour of work for that 300% price hike.

I hate every other DLC Costume, just uninspired unfitting super boring and so far from Traditional Resident Evil Extra Costume standards that I'm actively repulsed looking at any of them and thinking "someone thought these were worth money and fit the game"

I'm likely going to be getting more hours than what I have now (7.5 or so) and looking at the reviews, that means I have the most time than what you'll see scrolling down for an acceptable amount of time.

I can strongly say, I am absolutely hyped, I've been playing through all the resident evil games for the first time, I went the extra mile to get a big ass Tube 4:3 TV to play Resident Evil 1 (With the PS1 swap trick) on the PS1. Personally, it's number 1 on my list, I love everything about it. I continued to do the same with RE2, and later bought it because my "legal" copy would freeze a certain point no matter what.

My history with Resident evil is basically entirely baked into modern times, thinking of the current time of the game's release. Those old games weren't designed with a flat screen HD 144hz monitor, nor a regular HD monitor, they were visually designed around the hardware of the time, including consumers only hardware being, old ass tube 4:3's. And yes, it's better looking on a tube tv than it'll ever be with any filter or TV you throw at it that isn't from it's time.

Thanks for reading my rambling, as for this Demo, obviously, I used a super secret trainer you won't be able to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ find anywhere for some reason, but my obsessive personality got me to finally find a single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ functional link with a dead mirror and a single functional one, with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ password that was worthlessly added.

30 minute demo, honestly, truly, didn't need to happen. I don't know what they're aiming for, the entire game looks like it's not catering to nostalgia and bringing in a new Modern Resident Evil game, based on Resident Evil 2. The fact I just played through RE4 twice, and immedietly played and got hyped playing the demo, going through the trainer ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to get around some corporate ♥♥♥♥ up, I still, I want to play the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game.

I want this so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bad, and I hope so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ much all the problems are just from some older build with graphics and their weird bugs, performance, minor bugs, better fov options (just add 15 on the max I swear it'll make enough of a difference) but most of all, I hope there's more music playing. It felt weird how silent it was.

Also, cheers dev team, for adapting the zombies not actually being dead yet and just havin' fallin' over before they get back up. I saw some squeeky ♥♥♥♥ complaining about that, they're wrong, you adapted it ♥♥♥♥♥♥ perfectly, and has led to many moments where I go "oh ♥♥♥♥ that's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cool" when a zombie I thought I killed behind me comes back while I fighting another one in front of me, and hear it moving and moaning, like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ya'll this is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ overlooked can we just appreciate how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fun this demo is for how little it offers?

I HAVE BEATEN RE1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 100%

As a long enough time RE fan, Capcom, thank ♥♥♥♥ for coming to your senses, I see your efforts, thank you.

Try the demo btw, it's worth your time, it may not seem like much, but it offers enough to get the idea of what the game can offer.

Honestly, it should've been longer, I wish, even if added in or scripted in, you got to fight the licker, I wanted some climax to this, and really ♥♥♥♥♥ hate that it just ends with you going back to the main area. Like ♥♥♥♥ dude don't blue ball me like that, at least give me a mercenaries mode I NEED SOMETHING GOD DMANIT

Definitely worth playing if you want to see what a cool, "out of the box" thinking person can make. I really appreciated this experience, it's not 10/10 but it's just fun.

That's all I can say without spoiling anything, just note, it's vastly, superior to play it, than watch it. Whatever you possibly know of the game is mostly going to be around the end of the game, with character building and world building being the main aspect.

This is a Visual Novel game that looked at itself with a crooked eye, seeing different angles and thus possibilities. It truly is just a real Artist to Art & Player connection.

Again, nothing absolutely astonishing, but definitely worth it if you don't mind reading.

Funnest game I've played, lots of variety, fun gameplay, it's like they took a core and asked you what spices you want, many different ways to play, and character customization, while I wish it was a little less restrictive, is still good fun.

I remember being overwhelmingly hyped for this game as a kid, and I can still say confidently it's the last time any game has truly met my hype levels and succeeded it. No other since 2010 has managed.

This port was once downright awful but as of late it's been surprisingly solid? No crashes, good FPS, this may just be me but way back, it was downright unplayable and that Suuuucked for kid me. It meant OTR was the only option, and OTR is...not bad, I like it, but it's an Inferior variant of this game for me.

Most people will look at OTR and say "There's more content +Frank west" but to me, the story nosedives, the atmosphere, the "horror" vibe is lost, and it's already minimal, but I Adore how DR2 balances it's gritty edge and it's humor, where-as OTR is Just humorous.

In terms of Design, DR2 beats OTR using DR1 as a bat. The time limit and schedule for survivors is impeccable, alongside the sniper psychopaths, you can Carve a Path that you can then memorize for later playthroughs- if you thought Resident Evil rewarded repeats, DR2 does it the best with it's memorable schedule, survivors, and their placements.

OTR...jumbles everything, and worse? The one part of DR2 I consider genuinely bad enough to stop playing, the Poker Section, is made Actually Score Altering Bad in OTR, if you haven't handled the snipers (who respawn sometimes) they'll snipe You, those survivors, long before you reach anywhere else, the alternative being a Long ♥♥♥♥ Off Path Around.

Snipers in This game are just as frustrating as in OTR, but their placement surround survivors, and in the schedule, doesn't involve you playing Poker, and then having to restart or lose a Ton of time.

Man did ya'll buy Dead Rising Sun in it's 4-5 episodes on the 360 back in the day? I thought that was lost media for a while but someone eventually uploaded it. Not a good show but for kid me, the process of downloading shows to my console was so cool dude. I was hoping we'd see more stuff like this, extra video content for games before release n such. Man we've fallen.

If you want to see what Peak Capcom was, and in my opinion, the game to display the general vibe of 2010 to people, it's this game. The in-game world of the time for me will always bring back that cool night air, bringing Katey a stuffed bear on a melting 360 at like 14yo.

Lastly, Chuck Greene is genuinely on par with Frank West as a character.
There's genuinely few IPs where I can say of 2 protagonists "Nah they're both equally high-tier great"
The voice actor Breathes Chuck Greene's lines like it's Air. He knew he role and was perfect. Chuck's iconic Jacket, yellow lined shoes, and even the jeans, sets him only slight apart from the general "average joe" Frank goes for, but still keeps him leveled as just another average joe, who's also cool as ♥♥♥♥ like Frank not because of his profession or skillsets, but their personality.

As for OTR, I only recommend it if you desperately want more DR2.
