I'm very impressed! I'm very fond of Resident Evil 1 in particular, I played it around 2019 or so for my first time, inspired by CarcinogenSDA's speedruns to finally make the effort I felt the game deserved. I got a massive CRT TV from a neighbor a long while back after they almost burnt their house down, set that up with my original PS1, and did the disc swap trick on my PS1 because I was broke but had bought a ton of CD-R discs a long while back.

So with no nostalgia, or rose tinted glasses, simply and genuinely wanting that same high of my first playthroughs with RE1, I feel as if this is the closest any resident evil inspiration has and will get to for a long time. I have not finished it yet, but everything about this shows the roots of it's foundation, while showing the sprouts and leaves of competent, and confident, unique takes and personal design choices that I simply do not see happening with others inspired by the same game. Many times it feels like it's just going to copy Resident Evil to a T, but instead it sometimes misleads you into assuming that is going to happen, to subvert it with a new "gameplay context" and interesting set-up/location. Hard to explain it, but it never has me going "Oh. So just like resident evil." It's more like "Oh hey that's like resident evil!" not in a plagiaristic way, but a "Oh my god finally someone get's it." way I've been searching for.

It's not right to call it "Resident Evil but in First Person" it's the developer's experience with the game being shared in a very well made alternative format. As though stepping into the unconscious ether of the creator's interpretation of Resident Evil.

That is to say, thanks for the experience so far, can't wait to finish and replay it forever as I still do with RE1-2.

Imo, if you're going to remove this from listings, you should refund people immedietly. The fact Steam/Valve allowed this is honestly appalling.

I love resident evil, but this game is absurdly released early.

EDIT: I tried for the first time to try and give this pos another chance, and I died immedietly on the first zombie glitch speeding towards me. I cannot stress this enough, if you're planning on buying this, I can tell you my 5 hours spent (and that's being generous) is the whole of the entertainment value you'll recieve from this product they thought they could sell for 60$ originally.

This isn't even worth 10$ in a walmart knock-off bin. It genuinely, and I cannot stress this enough as a fan of most RE games, is the worst main-title in the series. Worse than 6. Because at least that was provides more time, and is actually fun every once in a while. It's still a POS but if I had to choose between another 6 and another RE3, I'd go with 6. Garbage. Pure and simple. Avoid avoid avoid.

You can get the UI stuck by going into costumes, choosing a character, but not a costume, then esc out, you can get it unstuck by pressing esc again.

The hair turns purple if you have variable framerate on, what did no one test that? Really?
The UI sometimes breaks like my graphics card is melting,
If you're alt-tabbed for more than 15 minutes, the game closes automatically.

Nemesis is clearly just the Mr. X code altered slightly in a game where the engine was barely designed for it.
You can seriously die at any difficulty level because Nemesis will softlock you with continual, unending punches you cannot escape or dodge. Maybe not design the game around the worst iteration of QTE that gaming has ever seen?

This forces the game to be quite literally "press the button right, or game over" at certain sections and I can't for the life of me understand how we've devolved from QTE. No one liked QTE, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Capcom certainly did, and now you can see what they did with it, made a game where it's make or break if you miss the QTE, and it's not even a cutscene, and it's a normal part of the game, with no signal being given that you need to dodge or not, especially since looking behind you isn't an option most times, so it's all guess work.

The dodge mechanic is auto for some enemies, and awful for all enemies. It works 70% of the time, but you'll notice the 30% more often because it goes to show that all they did was overlay RE3 onto RE2, and change numbers around, without testing ♥♥♥♥ professionally.

The controls are vastly less responsive than RE2's, so often Jill just chooses to not go straight or where I'm pressing, and runs in any direction a wall isn't near. It's because of this god awful trend of making the controls "feel and look epix bro" when all it does is destroy the point of video games, and in this game's case, resident evil.

In Resident evil, it was always about how well you controlled the characters. If you were hit, high odds are, you were standing somewhere incorrect. In this game, taking damage is not optional. You will take damage because the game isn't designed around control being REMOVED FROM THE PLAYER because a spec of dust is in the way of the run path. When did running into a wall become frustrating in ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Resident Evil?

It's frustrating how many times I've said "What's the point?" when trying to dodge and the character just refuses to. Sometimes they do when reloading, sometimes they don't, howabout, you don't have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ dodge system that makes the game "press or die, or die anyways"

The game still has the god awful vignette that absolutely obscures 30% of the screen for no visual gain whatsoever. Remove it, everyone ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hates it because it does nothing but clutter and hide visuals, it's not cool, it doesn't look good, it takes away and adds nothing, that is obvious to anyone who actually plays games using their eyes, but looking at how many glaringly obvious impossible to miss bugs there are, they probably don't play games.

Remove the stupid Aim Deceleration, if you are making a game for PC, and you ♥♥♥♥ with the mouse controls when aiming, you can't be considered a real developer, but you can be considered a joke of the PC community, join the small club buckos.

Also, the part where you set the train's path, could they seriously have given this section another 5 minutes of thought? Seriously? There's 0 direction for this puzzle, and when you do find it out, everytime you leave the interaction and come back, Jill will hault all attempts to exit back out, or complete the puzzle, until her line is said, a line that directly proves that what they made doesn't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ work.

No ♥♥♥♥ go to fox station (or whatever the ♥♥♥♥) there's a BIG RED CIRCLE WITH A BIG RED X ON IT, NO ♥♥♥♥ GO TO THE BIG RED CIRCLE WITH THE BIG RED X. If they seriously think not just removing that part of the map to confirm players won't be confused was somehow a worse idea than adding that unskippable voice line, then the rest of the problems I've listed have the same problem;

ya rushed it. Ya rush it hard. Ya didn't test everything, and you still think flashy equals fun.

It's not like you won't have a time with the game, but a good one? Bit of a stretch, if you've played RE2RE, this game is better and worse in many aspects, but if you wanted Capcom to fix all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ parts of RE2RE that no sane ♥♥♥♥ sapien would have added, they didn't and added more ♥♥♥♥ awful parts, so consider that before purchasing, they didn't improve, they regressed, and it's because they didn't do anything but overlay RE3 on RE2, and change some numbers.

3/10, better than the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ original game, still mediocre, not bugtested, very clearly.

Should've been included in the game not cut out and sold. Overpriced for no reason.

Worst costume in the game. I've no clue why it was even conjured up.
