Delightful.

In retrospect, this is my favorite Fallout game. Not the best (that's New Vegas), nor the most influential on me as a person or gamer (that's the original), but my favorite. The one that I enjoyed the most.

It moves a little towards games like Mass Effect, which is a welcome change for me. To me, this is the game where Bethesda finally got companions right. Coincidentally, this is also one of my favorite Bethesda games, second only to Morrowind.

It's really quite good! If you can find enjoyment in open world gaming, definately give the Commonwealth a visit.

The most emotionally intense video game experience I've had in a long time, maybe ever.

Hahahahahahahaha oh goodness, this is more fun than it has any right to be.

Cute lil' Gauntletlike. Is that a thing? It reminds me of the Hunter: The Reckoning games on Xbox & Playstation, and I mean that with all the love in my heart.

It's not a GOOD game. But it is fun.

Recruited a talking monkey named Corporal Bananas. Turned out to be the most competent officer on the ship.

10/10 would sacrifice redshirts to get the good candy again.

Lovely game, feels a little unoptimized for modern machines - I've been running Mad Max at ultra high resolutions, but this game is giving my video card much more of a workout.

Still.

Very recognizably a Spike Lee production, MyPlayer is actually engaging this year. New pass controls are pretty slick, and the soundtrack is - as always - on point.

If you like the 2K games, buy it. If you think you might like a basketball game, it's a great way to find out. If you want a single-player Basketball sojourn from Harlem to the NBA, with RPG advancement mechanics, thoughtful, nuanced acting, and a lot of people yelling, as curated by Spike Lee, there really aren't any other options.

I for one, didn't know I wanted this until I got it.

Early verdict? It's a game about crazy people blowing crap up in the desert, made by the Just Cause studio, whom I think may feel religiously obligated to put grappling hooks in everything they touch.

Max fights crazy wastelanders on foot. It's like Sleeping Dogs without the Kung Fu.

Max fights crazy wastelanders in a car. It's like Burnout with a shotgun.

Max fights crazy wastelander propeganda with his car and grappling hook. It's a little like Just Cause 2 and Red Faction: Guerrilla.

TL:DR: They took bits of a bunch of good open world games, and made a good open world game about blowing stuff up in the desert.

5/5 stars, would waste limited commodity fossil fuel to blow up warboys again.

SOooooooooooo Goooooooooooooooooooooood.

Not yet completed. But if you have played any of the other games in this series and enjoyed them, then play this. You'll enjoy it.

Just like Dragonfall incrementally improved on the core experience of Dead Man's Switch, and Director's cut improved on that, here's another incremental improvement.

It is glorious.

Kickstarter backer here. Writing now that it's out of early access. Well, it feels like it's still in early access to me.

As a big fan of X-Com (old and new) as well as Fallout (likewise), I figured this'd be right up my ally. And maybe it will be, once it gets another coat of polish. There's so much potential here, I'm sure it'll be great.

Man, though. That dialog. I'm sure there are people who like it. Good for them, I'm legit happy. But wow, I am not among their ranks.

(Edit; clarifying as per requests in the comments)

Reasonable! Let me go into more detail.

The dialog feels like the kind of writing you get out of 14-year old writers going for "Edgy." I have no issue with profanity, I find it can be a delightful spice for dialog. This was like eating a spoonful of raw cinnamon. I can't tell if they were going for a wacky comedy game, or a serious gritty wasteland tale. My guess is blending the two, as has been done successfuly with Wasteland, Fallout, etc.

It, in my estimation, fails absolutely on every count. It's tone is more in keeping with a YouTube video comments section than professional fiction of any stripe.

The voice acting is extremely disjointed. Not 90's Capcom Bad, insofar as I'm pretty sure these weren't cold reads by janitors, but it feels wildly disconnected; highly disjointed. At no point did I feel like these people were talking to each other.

As far as the early access, I was experiencing mouse lag on even medium settings - my compy's in the 84th percentile in horsepower & graphics, and this is hardly a graphics-intensive game. And yet.

The interface wasn't super intuitive. And okay, fine, you don't want to do a tutorial mode. Cool, that's old-school. Jagged Alliance & X-Com at least had manuals.

Overall, it's not bad. But I was really excited for the release, and now I'm more excited about uninstalling it, and reinstalling Jagged Alliance 2.

Hopefully that clears up my concerns.

Glorious. An absolute delight, and I am on record as absolutely loathing Real-Time-With-Pause combat.

Welp, this game didn't change my mind: I rather wish it had been pretty much any other kind of combat system. HAVING SAID THAT, the game is an utter delight.

I never really got into the Baulder's Gate series, so this isn't really nostalgic for me. Just a very, very well-done game.

Built a Voltron Mech out of cardboard boxes and duct tape.

10/10 would go through transformation sequence again.

...

.....

Seriously though, it's an incredibly fun, charming little turn-based tactics game.
