Nice horror game.

You play as some guy waking up in a place he doesn't know and tries to understand what happened in the past few hours.

The pixalised graphics are ok, but would probably look better if the game wasn't totaly fullscreen.

The best thing about this game is the way the story is narated by the character you control, and that what you do / choose can modify your character's thoughts and naration.
Some moments are a bit annoying at first, since you want to explore everything and wonder what you missed, sometimes there's different paths and as soon as you choose one you're stuck in that direction.
But in the end that's how you end up with your own version of the story, and own opinion about what happened.
At the end, the game even lets you share how you interprete the story online, and can compare to what others have thought.

Not really a scrary game, but an original experience for sure.

I spent a whole hour searching for bison poop. 10/10

Don't starve is a great and fun indie survival game. You play as a weird-haired guy who spawns in a wild haunted world and has to survive by finding and crafting food, tools, objects... etc

First of all this game has amazing graphics and art, It's probably the best looking Indie game i've played. It really looks like a moving drawing, something between Shelter and The Binding of Isaac.

The gameplay is nice, and kinda reminded me of Terraria in the way that you arrive in this world, and have to find out how the game works all by yourself, there's almost no indications exept a few vague comments that your character says.
And also, of course, the "find a place to survive for the night" thing is very Terraria like.
It requires a lot of organisation and some ingenuity, a very good game !c

Half Life: Opposing force is an extension to the original Half Life game.
You play as a soldier interventing during the Black Mesa incident, so it happens (at least starts) during HL1's event.
It's a good extension and is worth giving a try if you liked HL1, as it brings a few new elements (weapons, some new gameplay possibilities like interaction with props) and it's always good to meet again these stupid Rambo sounding soldiers.

Bored of waiting for HL3 ? So am I, but here's a little something to make the wait easier.

MINERVA: Metastasis is a source based mod set in the Half life universe. Its amazing if you're into HL and it's universe, probably a bit less if you're not (you would definitly rather start by playing HL2)
It has similar atmosphere, mechanics (duh), and immersion than HL2 and it's Episodes. Consider it as a plus or a side quest to the main game, kinda the way Opposing force and Blue Shift are to HL1.
It's creator has worked at Valve so no wonder it is a good game !

I really enjoyed the map and plot. No spoiler, but I can tell you that once again you're gonna have to f*ck with some huge combine installations :D
It's hard to tell when the game events occur compared to City 17's events, I think it's just some Resistance action happening before Gordon's come back.

Only downside is that the game had some weird graphic settings the first time played it, it was really bright and well... quite ugly compared to what I was seing online.
If it happens to you (you can compare with the community page screenshots) add "+mat_dxlevel 90 +mat_hdr_level 2 +mat_hdr_enable +mat_fullbright 0" (no quotes) to your game launch options.

The game is free if you already own HL: E1, so get it !

Best f2p I've ever played (and best I'm ever going to play probably).

First of all it's very fun: great gameplay, funny characters, awesome community made items... perfect to play with friends.
It's really skill-based and has also some good teamplay elements too.

One of the best thing about it is also that it's a very balanced game (the classes are, the player distribution in teams never is, even after 84567 "scrambling the teams"): the class you select is always gonna have a lot of pros and cons, be effective against some classes and be an easy target for others.
After some time you'll probably end up having favorite classes and some that you like... a bit less :D[i.imgur.com] (f**king spies !)

There's an inner story to the game and it's characters, but as often with Valve is not really explicit, actually even less than Portal or L4D2. So take a look at the comics to know more about it !

After 9 years in development, it's been worth the wait !

Limbo is probably the best puzzle / reflection game I've played.

First because of it's unique atmosphere, creepy and disturbing. That dark world (I don't even think there's any colour in the whole game excepted from blackness and light) is worse than hell. The death animations of that little boy will make you shudder every single time.
The story behind all this isn't explained... you just wake up in there and can make suppositions with the scenario according to the very ending.
On the gameplay side it's simply perfect. The level of difficulty is not too easy, not too hard, its just complicated. And it gets really harder when you want to get the different secrets hidden, you really need to look out for each single detail and try random things to get to them.

Get that game ! :p

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ eagle.

First of all Shelter has great graphics, it's really one of the nicest games I've played on that side. It looks like an interactive drawing or something.
You take the role of a mother... badger. Yes. Badger. Who has to protect and feed her cute (and slightly stupid) baby badgers all along the game. Obviously, they can get killed in a lot of different ways (I cried for each single baby badger I lost.) and you have to figure out how to protect them on each part of the game...
Quite a good short indie game, really worth trying.

"Games are the ultimate art form, ultimate media, it’s the total of every expressive medium of all time, made interactive." - Phil Fish

First of all, THIS ISN'T A GAME. This is a movie. Yeah, a movie on steam, ikr, but that's it. (That said there could be a mini game hidden somewhere in it... just sayin'...)
It follows some indie game creators: Team Meat (Super meat boy), Phil Fish (FEZ), and Jonathan Blow (Braid), during the important moments of their game developement and release.

The real core of that movie is the relation between these persons and their games. The way they identify themselves to these games, the way their games are basicly their life. Some of these guys go through big buisness issues (I'll try not to spoil), and are even talking about committing suicide or killing someone if they can't manage to release their game or create games anymore !

That's where you realise how Indie games are magic compared to "big companies games". They're made as a form of art and expression by a few peaple, whereas well... bigger games are made to reach the most peaple possible, that's that simple. Tommy Refenes and Phil Fish even talk about the way Modern Warfare is ♥♥♥♥ and modern Japaneese games aren't what they used to be.
Each one of the games presented in the movie are highly original: all the video game references and the gameplay of super meat boy, the crazy 2D / 3D thing of FEZ... etc. These guys didn't spend years of their life for nothing.

The DLC really worth it too, many awesome docs are included into it (the way Ed McMillen reacts to internet trolls, the way the Super meat boy level designer got hacked, some zooms on other Team meat games that look almost even more original than their 2 must known games.. etc). But try not to watch everything in a row, cause they re-use the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ music everytime and it gets quickly annoying.

If you like indie games, honestly, watch that movie, its absolutly awesome.

This game is a metaphorical and enigmatic representation of the human condition through the concepts of atheism and spiritualism.

No, just kidding, it's just a stupid fly flying upwards the whole game.

That said, the ending is really funny, and it stays a really good atmospherical game (the music, the game's art itself) ! It won't take more than 15 minutes to download and finish, so get it, it's free !

Probably the best minimalist puzzle game you'll ever find. Thomas was alone is a very simple indie puzzle game, where you simply need to complete level after level until you reach the last one.

Thomas is a rectangle. But not any rectangle, he's a rectangle with his own personality and characteristics. As we go through the game, Thomas meets new rectangles and squares (Claire, Laura, John...) who like Thomas, are really unique. The real originality of the game is here, narrating a whole story with it's events and characters based on a really, really basic gameplay.
The story is narrated by a narrator (duh) who reminds a bit of the Stanley Parable one, in the tone of his voice, but also in the way he is the only way we know about what is happening (I checked, it's not him)

The game is globaly quite easy, (exept some really mind-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ levels in the end), and you will need from 3 to 6 hours to complete it depending on your brain capacities.

Really fun and original, get that game !
