Early Access Review
I've played full price for AAA games with less gameplay than this Early Access roguelike by a small studio.

The original web version of Cookie Clicker is a classic of the genre, this port is atrocious. Runs like complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on the Steam Deck, for good measure. It was 5 bucks and I'm going to get a refund.

It's a city builder where you deal with uncertain resources, and when you hit the point after a couple hours where these kinds of games sometimes get boring, you get to move on. According to Steam I'm ~17 hours into the game and I still haven't beaten the first "boss" map, even on the easy difficulty, so there's a lot of game here for your money.

Couldn't get it running well on my old desktop, but it runs amazingly on the Steam Deck, and controls great once you get used to it.

Also this game contains anthropomorphic beavers.

This more or less plays fine on the Steam Deck, you'll just have to spend some time messing around with control settings and maybe tweak the upscaler options, mostly because GGX#R came out before XInput was standardized. This is exactly the same as the Japanese Windows XP version from 2003, but in English. Also it's sort of a pain to pull of the more complex moves on the Steam deck d-pad, about on par with playing Guilty Gear on Xbox or Dreamcast back in the day.

Technical issues aside, Guilty Gear XX#Reload is absolutely worth the ten bucks for the story mode even if you're a casual fighting game player in 2023. Also one of the all time great fighting games in general.

Great port, runs perfectly on the Steam Deck. Pretty janky and busted compared to every other Guilty Gear, but definitely worth at least picking up on a sale and playing for a little bit if you're a fan of the series.

Zero substance, constantly screaming in your face about events and DLC like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mobile game. Just kinda throws cars at you at random, no real sense of progression. Graphics are very good but bland. It's like they took everything bad about Burnout Paradise and nothing that made that game actually good.

It's got plenty of Free to Play jank, but Warframe is still one of the only MMOs worth playing. The mainly single-player story stuff is really cool and requires very little grind.

I came to Garry's Mod pretty late, but there are a lot of wild mods made using this. For example, Jazzstronauts is an absolute masterpiece.

Unfortunately it runs pretty bad under Proton on my potato of an old desktop, which is more of a problem with me. Just saying that if you're on an old system and running Linux, maybe wait for a sale.

That said, Garry's Mod is one of those pieces of software that's worth owning and installing on every PC you build, just so you have it around.

It's like the Arkham Horror card game, only you don't spend $200 on expansions then remember you don't have any friends.
