It's like the Arkham Horror card game, only you don't spend $200 on expansions then remember you don't have any friends.

Early Access Review
I'd maybe recommend waiting until this game is out of Early Access to get really deep into it because I don't know how much replay value it'll have, but so far it's very good. Haven't come close to seeing the end of the EA content after a couple lost afternoons, and the devs seem to be cranking out updates regularly.

No problems running it under Proton besides achievements not unlocking. I'm on an old Linux desktop, but I'd imagine this will shape up to be a pretty good Steam Deck game. Good performance on an older system, too.

Updating my review to say that my computer is just old and my OS is mildly borked, this version of Dwarf Fortress is fine and the devs have been actively supporting it. At this point, if you're having serious technical issues it'll probably happen within the return window, so it gets a rec from me.

Trombone Champ is a charming and reasonably fun rhythm game full of secrets. Fantastic mod scene. Required only minimum tinkering to get running on Linux, and the only real bugs I've encountered are mod related and very minor (graphical, non-gameplay related). Good value if you're just going to complete the story, but fantastic value for the price if you like going for high scores or want to see all the stuff the community's putting together.

Full of more weird band kid energy than possibly any other game ever made.

At the time of writing this, I'm only about halfway through the main story campaign, but this seems like a really solid non-standard tower defense game. Simple game mechanics that have a lot of depth, and that seems to only get better with the sequels.

It's a collection of competently made small games that you play to earn money to decorate a house. Good workshop support for player avatars so you can be a bootleg copy of your favorite characters. No individual part of this game is anything too special, but as a whole it's a fun way to goof around and absolutely worth the 30 bucks. The developers are actively supporting the game, no F2P currency stuff I could notice, and it works perfectly on Linux out of the box.

A 10/10 way to dress like Sonic the Hedgehog and watch Dragonball Z clips in an unfinished basement.

Even if you never get anywhere in this game (like me), it's absolutely worth checking out if you enjoy feeling overwhelmed and confused. I didn't have any technical problems the last time I tried it, but definitely try to run it on your system while you can still get a refund.

Still one of the best in its genre, years later. The Binding of Isaac isn't afraid to occasionally have runs become absolute chaos in the player's favor. Some of the endgame bosses added in some of the paths from the various expansions are sorta BS, but there's still hundreds of hours here. Besides my play clock on Steam, I've played countless runs on PS4 and Switch.

I will also throw out a recommendation for the podcast "Everything to Guppy", a comedy podcast that's nominally about describing every single everything from the Binding of Isaac.

Updating this review to delete some outdated technical aspects and to say that this game is near perfect on the Steam Deck. Had one crash in maybe two dozen runs and barely lost any progress because this game has a pretty generous autosave. I played a lot of Isaac on the Switch, but the addition of customizable controls, a slightly larger screen, and mod support (especially the item description mod which is a must in my opinion) make that the definitive Binding of Isaac console.

Also definitely get all of the DLC. The dollar-to-hour value for all of them is completely off the chart. Especially Repentance, which started as a community mod pack and basically doubles the amount of everything in the game. All of the additional challenge these add is also slowly meted out as you complete the game, the early game difficulty is unchanged.

Ultimately, I haven't finished No Man's Sky because it got a little grindy for my tastes, but the Hello Games team fixed a lot of the serious problems with the early versions then kept adding more stuff. Definitely recommend at least checking out some videos of the game and considering it if you like survival/crafting/space exploration games.
