I am a big fan of the "Dead Space" series, so I was highly interested when "The Callisto Protocol" was announced since it had involvement from people attached to the original Dead Space. The graphics of the game are outstanding really and the game play fun and interesting. But really I have to be honest that upon release I was not a big fan of the melee combat and put the game down for about a year until recently when I decided to give it another try and I don't know what to say, this time the melee combat mechanic just clicked for me and I actually fell in love with the melee combat and could not put the game down until I beat it over about 20 hours. I personally found the story-line interesting and intriguing and the ending well done. I am currently playing the DLC "Final Transmission" that continues the story-line of the main game and while I am enjoying that as well I however feel it actually ruins the original ending of the game. As for some negative points on the game, I feel the weapon switching is cumbersome, you can easily switch between your main or secondary weapon but you can have multiple weapons in each category and when you have exhausted the ammo on the equipped weapons it is hard to change to the next weapon for main or secondary in the heat of combat. Also the final encounter with Captain Ferris, whomever designed that boss fight should have each of their testicles squeezed slowly with a pair of pliers until they pop like the puss sacks in the sub levels of the game, not a fan of that experience. Overall I enjoyed this game and I am so happy I gave it another try and went back to it. After I finish the DLC "Final Transmission" I plan to play and explore the added (New Game Plus Mode) that allows you to carry over your weapons and upgrades from the previous play-through. Also enjoying another DLC "Riot Mode", which is basically an added Horde Mode where you fight waves of enemies and use the points to purchase ammo and upgrades between rounds. If you like action, like horror, like fast paced combat as well as blood and gore, give "The Callisto Protocol" a chance! Also keep an eye out for Steam Sales because when this game is on sale it is one hell of a deal to get the game and all the DLC.
