[EVO]RDX Grifter-TI Class Multirole Corvette [1-Slot]

Description
In partnership with the [LAC] Legion Aerospace Corporation, EVO jumpworks proudly present the REDUX starter series.
________________________________________________________________________________

So named because as the professional con-artist soon reveals, looks can be decieving. The Grifter Class Multirole Corvette packs more punch and features into its 1.4kilo tons than should ever be considered possible within the galaxy we exist.

This is the quintessential space craft for the budding space cadet no matter what job takes their fancy:

Mining: with nearly 500mw of free power in reserve the Grifter can handle a full day of roid carnage with ease and mount ANY sub-system upgrade that takes your fancy.

Hauling: with a cargo hold capable of shifting over 728 units this ship defies the engineering restrictions that its dynamics should limit.

Combat: with maximised roll, pitch and yaw rates and optimized for extreme levels of thrust and agility the ship is capable of getting behind your enemy and strafing their hull while their guns flail trying to achieve a lock. The speed and precision afforded by the multitude of thrusters and finely tuned gyro's on this ship will surprise even the most seasoned of combat pilots.

EVO jumpworks offers the Grifter in 2 seperate variants:

[EVO]RDX Grifter-IR Class Multirole Corvette
[EVO]RDX Grifter-TI Class Multirole Corvette

The TI variant improves on the baseline IR enough that EVO felt it wise to offer both craft seperately;
Swapping out solar power for titanium based generators allows for a considerable increase of power freeing up more than 620 mw.
Despite top speeds of 160 m/s remaining unchanged the TI can get there almost twice as fast nearly doubling both forward and reverse thrust across the board.
Thanks to the improved manufacturing materials the hull strength is increased by 50% and the best part is that for the extra credits and the time spend finding the titanium no agility or cargo space is lost despite the ship being nearly 500 tons lighter!

Do i need to give you a hug?

Bare in mind this was uploaded a LONG time ago my friend ... the game has changed significantly ... wasn't always the case it was useless because you will find this ship made use of the "straw" cargo exploit that xisted which meant it had a ridiculous cargo hold for a ship of it's size and price.

The idea of it was to be a very very cheap starter ship.

Like i said - this is back from when the game was quite different.

/hugs

A 1-slot ship is as useless as a 5th wheel on a wagon.....

What I will do is make a MKII version but I will take an unreleased version where I already got rid of the "rods" and replace it with a block made of frame so that it is both light, easy to find and easy to transfer to whatever module you prefer.

Thank you again Brujo

I really dunno what to say ... the idea my ship has hit reddit is pretty humbling.

The cargo issue is very difficult to overcome due to a major change that happened after the ship was made.

The simple solution is to scale the ship to whatever you can afford and then the 2 intakes on either side you can simply remove the armor layer and you will find the cargo easily accessible and modifiable. For the center one it sits at the front of the ship and again it just a case of removing the armor layer to get access.

basically ships were all designed on a 0.5 scale at that time but when cargo was changed it was made that a MINIMUM cargo hold must be 1x1x1 and thus ships like mine "broke" and what once had cargo had 0.

Thank you for the kind words though and I am really thrilled to see someone had the game made better for them because it was always the intention, something cheap, fun and easy to fly that was scalable.

I ended up using it as a combo miner, fighter ship with great success in the starting sector killing pirates and mining juicy asteroids. When the time comes to upgrade I will miss it so much. If the author can make a Mk2 version of this ship removing the useless rods inside of broken cargo space it will lighten up the ship considerably, and I did it to hollow the ship a bit to compensate somewhat for the blocky cargo space I added to the bottom. It handles extremely well compared to other "starter" ships in the workshop and I destroy iron/titanium based zone pirates super easily. Get this ship over any other "starter" one, it is the best! 8) LOVE IT SO MUCH!

I got this ship off a recommendation on reddit. I must say after 4 hours being utterly lost on the game without any proper way to move around (my ship building skills are sub par) I went into the net for help and saw this ship being mentioned. Downloaded it, turned my abomination brick lump of inertia into this sleek amazing ship and now I am enjoying the game so much! This should be the starting ship model you get upon creating a new universe. It has everything , except cargo, but that can be fixed easily by adding a small container to the bottom and you can get about 30-40 units of cargo without damaging much the overall design in terms of speed/nertia.

Yea.

I have done some serious investigating on this and the sad news is - I cannot fix it.

The point of these ships were that they were SMALL so they based on a .5 ratio not the flat 1:1 and it looks like the devs have opted to cater for 1.0 and above for cargo.

A single 1:1 block gives 0.4 cargo space so it is now very clear to me why the cargo on this ship is broken.

Now I could simply scale up to 2x but it actually breaks all the power gen on the ship and I'd argue if im scaling that high I may aswell rework the unreleased Nostromo design I was saving till 1.0

I have not forgot this ship, far from it it has been HUGELY popular but it seems the intended "scale" of the game as considerably larger than the base scaling of this little run around.

A sad day.

Cargo capacity is 0: Description states the ship has >0

I understand 100% Ball but it kind of goes against the reason for the refurbs ... no problems with u guys doin whatever u want after i design the final results but I don't really want to go down the rabbit hole of trying to fix what is not broken.

What im thinkin though is actually skipping the 2 slot because the Grifter is so ludicrously space efficient the size difference is makin me wonder if its worth doing the 2 slot.

Regardless work has commenced and I will have a stab with the 2 slot before I decide whether to just skip and move to the 3.

I do think the Hellion is a nicer looking ship though and that the 2 slot will feel like a downgrade from the Grifter.

Watch this space.

Yes when i doubled the size i ran into some power issues, just added some gens
