Red Faction Civs - The Red Faction

Description
Adds in the Red Faction, from Red Faction: Guerrilla into the game, led by Alec Mason.

====!!!! IMPORTANT COMPATIBILITY NOTICE !!!!====
This mod requires the Brave New World expansion pack to work, and WILL NOT function properly without it. However, as with every other mod I have created, I have chosen not to modify the dependency setting to require Brave New World, so those that do not have it can use the mod as they please. However, the mod is almost guaranteed to be a horribly broken - but playable - mess without the second expansion pack, so if you do not have the Brave New World expansion pack, proceed into a game with this mod at your own risk.

The Red Faction is a Civilization that can use military conflicts to fuel its economy, receiving a bonus to Gold for each enemy unit killed, each City conquered, and each Barbarian encampment captured. This causes the Red Faction's economy to skyrocket ahead of the pack, so long as they are at war, and allows them to use their Gold reserves for a wide variety of different applications, from keeping City-States on their side, to fueling a Science Victory by purchasing science structures in a City, to instantly training additional military Units using the Purchase feature. Indeed, the Red Faction's economy turns the Civilization into a force to be reckoned with, as they can stockpile large amounts of Gold like no other Civ.

====Unique Ability - Scrap is like Gold====
All melee Units receive Gold from kills, equal to half of the Combat Strength values of the slain enemy Units. Receive triple Gold from pillaging Cities and from taking barbarian encampments.

====Unique Unit 1 - Combat Walker====
The Combat Walker is a unique alternative to the Giant Death Robot that trades its melee attack for the ability to use a ranged attack against adjacent Units, allowing it to engage enemy forces without taking any damage in return. While not as effective in conventional combat than the Giant Death Robot, it more than makes up for it by being much more survivable on the battlefield against enemy forces, serving as a powerful tool for both offensive and defensive engagements. However, the Combat Walker requires one Iron resource to build, unlike the Giant Death Robot.

====Unique Unit 2 - Heavy Walker====
The Heavy Walker is a devastating anti-building unit that can easily tear enemy cities to pieces and wreak havoc on their tile improvements. It pays no movement points to pillage tiles, allowing it to rip enemy infrastructure to shreds and set them back centuries, while also having a +200% bonus against Cities, a promotion normally unique to Siege-class units, the Heavy Walker is capable of conquering cities much more effectively than any other unit in the game. However, all this power comes at a price, as the Heavy Walker is weaker and slower in conventional combat than the Giant Death Robot it replaces, meaning that it must be escorted by other units that are better-equipped for dealing with enemy ground forces. Requires one Iron to build, rather than Uranium.

====Credits====
Usernamehere, for making the mod.
Every man, woman, and child, who worked at THQ and Volition and made Red Faction: Guerrilla and the Red Faction series a reality.
All the respective creators of the music and artwork used.

Special thanks to another modder here on the Civ V workshop that inspired me to add the Heavy Walker's anti-building abilities, so it could be used as a counter to the EDF's uniques.

Music used:

The song Hearts and Minds, better known as one of the menu themes for Red Faction: Guerrilla, has been used as the Red Faction's loading screen theme.

The song Calm has been used as the Red Faction's peace theme.

The song Mission Final has been used as the Red Faction's war theme.

Well I'm glad to hear that (most) of those are planned, I'll be looking forward to these new changes~

And as for Marauders, that's pretty understandable. Maybe they could've used a scratched Ultor logo but, ah well. Red Faction and EDf are still good civs.

You'll be happy to know that all of those are already planned. I'm not working on them at this very moment, but I plan to make unique unit addons for basically the entire EDF Arsenal. It'll go something like this:

EDF Medium Tank = Modern Armor (Finished)

EDF APC = Mechanized Infantry

EDF Flyer/AAX Raven = Helicopter Gunship

EDF Omega Legion (The name of the white-suit elites, they're an elite military unit according to the wiki) = XCOM Squad

EDF Officer = Paratrooper

EDF Trooper = Marine

I didn't think of the Free Fire Zone artillery though, good suggestion. I might use it. Also, unfortunately the Marauders aren't coming. I started making them as a full new Civ but eventually decided to stop because there simply wasn't anything available for some things. Mainly, the Civ insignia as the Marauders' logo only appears on their flags and vehicles and that wouldn't translate well to an icon.

This mod, with the EDF Civ mod, on the Red Planet map, and you got a Red Faction turn-based game. Now we just need the right models and textures to replace more things.

Like giving the EDF's mechanized infantry their 6-wheel APCs, Flyers replacing gunships, white-suit elites replacing Paratroopers, etc.

While the Red Faction get a rocket garbage truck, machinegun buggy, and machinegun 4x4 to represent the diverse vehicles in mechanized infantry, giving workers a light combat value to defend against aggressors, that sort of thing.

The EDF could probably also get a UB, the artillery cannon in the Freefire Zone that provides a bonus to city ranged combat.

Or the Marauder faction being allied with barbarians on the map, or at least not being attacked by them, or bringing bonus resources from pillaging tile improvements or razing cities.

Converting melee units into ranged units is a bit more of an involved process than simply setting the range to 1. Do you want to have a ranged unit? Or a unit that can attack in melee and use a ranged attack?

I know how to do both.

Ive gotten the basics of renaming assets and modifying stats but some features I implament dont seen to work, like making a musket unit have a range of 1. This was early in my learning so given time I might be able to fix it but that one example. Another feature I really want to get down is adding custom art for the leader, map, units, etc.

Define "advanced." I might be able to help you. I also might not be able to help you. No promises.

I know this question might be out of the blue but would anyone happen to know anyone or be willing to teach a budding mod maker like myself the more advanced stages of Civ design? I have gotten down some of the basics but any tutorials I find cant help me with some of the more techical features

3. The Reapers (Mass Effect universe)

I hear that the Reapers are pretty overpowered and not designed for a standard game, but I've never played with them so I can't tell you the details.

4. Gabe Newell - The PC Master Race (Joke Civilization)

Like the Reapers, I've never played as these guys. I just hear that they're ridiculously overpowered.

2. The Ancients (These might be from a universe? Maybe?)
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=163334008
These guys are designed for insane early-game yields, as they get a Monument replacer that provides +5 to every yield. That allows the Ancients to skyrocket ahead in every aspect and often to advance past everyone else technologically. In addition, they have a very unique Giant Death Robot replacer which functions as both a melee and a ranged unit, being able to bombard enemies then engage them in melee in the next turn.
