Description
Why and what is it?

Its a Fallout RP map.
So, rp_2300_vNext is version 1.5 of the line. This map addresses many problems found in _v1. We named it as Version.Next. due to it not quite being a real version, and being more of what we wanted the map to be rather then what it needed to be at the time of request.
Alot more look over, alot more talk, alot more 'what ifs' and 'how abouts'.




backstory
RP_2300_vNext is the follow-up to RP_2300_v1, which was a sub-finished product on the combination of the test maps that HammerForge made back in 2016. After HammerForge fell apart, i had the maps sitting in my lap, as i took the dev branch of the group, The Source Forge (TSF)(TSF at the time was not set up yet as a dev branch). wile my counterpart took the community and gaming branch (HellForge).

The maps where shelved till i finished with rp_venator_vFinal. But vFinal was put on hold as we had some content contributor bail on us without telling us... but at said time he still hasnt told us, so in the mean time, i was approached by a long time player and VIP to me and TSF, Hagan. Who was working with a group to open up a new Fallout Factions, so the test-bed maps from HammerForge came off the shelf. Combining the 2 maps, and doing some bug fixing, i had to release a map without propper, full fixing and time. Making rp_2300_v1.

The name rp_2300 originally came from where the map originated from, our Fallout Faction's server... the first Fallout Factions server ever made. We where to base the time frame in 2300, the furthest the connecting Fallout story has ever actually reached.

TL;DR
Its a Fallout map, combining cscdesert, Atomic, and 2 test bed maps. that are no longer test bed maps.

What has changed?
The all water layer was removed
  • Salem City
  • Northern Forest
  • Atomic
  • Vault 15

  • All the aircraft/WAC teleports (located above the tunnels, just fly into the empty space above the tunnels)) have been enlarged and the exit points moved to fit the drop outs better.

  • Enclave base area was cut from the map as it was really just too big of a space for just one faction to use. Yes the Enclave are supose to be really OP, but we had other plans to give them a well suited base that uses less resources, and suits the faction much better.

  • The map is now able to hold 100 players rather than 80 now, due to the optimization used in the sections of the map. if FPS starts to drop, then we can throw in another optimization option if we get enough flak. the map should run at about +60FPS just fine as long as you dont use extended scripts or special effects in your servers.

  • As the map is designed for the community as a whole. Any game mode can really be played off it.

  • removed alot of uneeded props, triggers, visuals, and the like. further optimizing the map

  • replaced some structures. mostly being in Northern Forest.

  • removed alot of items such as windows and doors, as not every structure needs these

  • simplified ladders. So all you need to do is run up to them and look up wile running into them.

  • added banner posts to all the critical locations

  • dialed back the fog ALOT. instead of seaming like youre running through a sandstorm. now it looks more like a very dusty hot day.

  • the map is completely packed with all the textures that you need from any and all games. CSS, EP1,2, and the like. NO requirments.

Northern Forest
There was alot of changes to Northern Forest. Terrain, locations, and the like. but we couldnt for the life of us figure out why the trees where phase-through... but after thinking it over. we desided to keep it that way. the trees are nice for looks. but would hamper driving. and normal forest maps this size would be just annoying to walk through anyways.
  • edited church town next to the lake and the corner town. they are now all one location

  • edited left turn area you find right out of the tunnel, added in a gas station and a point to set up your own town. Northern forest is designed for one main faction in itself though. all side or secondary is up to the server.

  • edited lanes, so you have better ability to move through them in a vehicle.

  • added an ICBM silo to one of the towns that can be activated in the nearby bunker

  • removed the water of that town as it was unneeded and useless.

  • alot of terrain smoothing and changes, making more platues rather then just pointy grass hills.

atomic changes
Atomic was fun to play with. but some aspects where stupid to play with lol.
  • we removed the gnome because it was too much resources.

  • added an easter egg

  • changed textures in the Hotel Surpluss Depot

  • made some visual changes to the trains

  • changed the lighting a bit

  • added in a back room after the door seen in gm_atomic in the bunker. it is generally just an enclosed room with containers in it. warehouse style. covered by a unique blast door found from elsewhere.

  • added in half of a bunker that people will recognise.

  • simplified alot of geometry.

Salem City
Salem City is a mess. but. we love it. we can thank Hotel for this. its a great town, and good for eyecandy. it brings a sence of... actual city to the workshop in that Fallout feel that no one has.
  • alot of fixes to the visuals of salem city. some could not be helped at all.

  • alot of ground has been reworked and fixed up. still a few tiny problems here or there. but nothing that will flicker at you.

  • The removal of some structures in Salem City opened up some open space for people to build off of.

  • The large door in Salem City's south west area was swapped out with a small door leading into a bunker complex that might be familiar to most. This is what we gave the Enclave for the time being.

  • Things like the train station or side walks, or broken textures where the map opens up, are about 99% all fixed. we could have missed something, the city is pretty big.

Vault 15
Vault 15 was getting flak from all over the place, for being unoptimized, having clunky systems, the fuse system, and props being there in general.
  • removed all props

  • removed the fuse system

  • alot of structure simplified

A good center piece to have other factions fight over the control of the Silo~ or give that section of Northern forest to a Follower's mini faction. or Children of Atom. idk. its ROLE PLAY! Make something up and go with it.
