Description
[Updated for 2.8.0 !!!]

This mod aims to improve the Shared Burden civic by making it more useful and removing some of the arbitrary limitations in picking it. It makes the following changes:

(1) Shared Burden living standard now consumes 0.25 consumer goods per pop (instead of 0.4 previously) and no longer grants a happiness bonus. This makes it more comparable (slightly cheaper at game start) to the consumer goods consumption of Stratified Economy for Authoritarians. This also furthers Shared Burden's niche for removing the disproportionate consumption of the upper classes in order to divert resources towards other endeavors including modernization (i.e., research) or industrialization (i.e., alloys) and differentiates it from the Utopian Abundance living standard.

(2) Can now be picked by Xenophobes. Want to be a communist isolationist like North Korea? Now you can!

(3) Now requires any level of Egalitarian or Authoritarian (instead of only Fanatic Egalitarian previously). Want to lead the Dictatorship of the Proletariat with a full dose of Dictatorship? Now you can! Imperial authority is still prohibited.

(4) Technocracy can now be chosen with Shared Burden so you can now have a politburo of intelligentsia.

(5) Syncretic Evolution can now be chosen with Shared Burden.

Update 4/24/2020:

- Updated for 2.6.3 and implemented in a way that should be more compatible with other mods.

Update 3/17/2020:

- Updated for 2.6.0. Can now fully realize a Warsaw Pact federation of space communist states with the new Federations DLC.

Update 1/18/2020:

- Updated for 2.5.1. Sentient rock space communism is now as fully realizable as squishy organic space communism.

Update 1/6/2019:

- Reduced consumer goods consumption from 0.3 to 0.25 per pop. Also removed the 5% happiness bonus.

- Fixed a bug that occurred when a pop became enslaved while having the Shared Burdens civic resulting in no upkeep (food or consumer goods) for that pop. Now all enslaved will correctly use the Shared Burdens living standard. I am open to other possibilities here (i.e., allowing an enslaved species to choose between Basic Subsistence, Decent Conditions, or Shared Burdens living standards), but opening up these options would require a great deal more coding.

- Syncretic Evolution is now selectable with Shared Burdens.

- I would also like to point out that Slaver Guilds is also selectable with Shared Burdens (but not Syncretic Evolution) if you go Authoritarian. I am not sure how much sense this makes for Shared Burdens to exist side-by-side with such prominent slavery; perhaps it can represent the forced labor of gulags. I will leave it to the discretion of users whether or not they want these civics chosen together, and so I am leaving the option open.

By the way, the totalitarian faction does not liked shared burdens living standard as is. But I add this inn by adding "has_shared_burden_living_standard_type = yes" to the list of requirements inside 00_totalitarian.txt. Just in case you want to know :)

I can confirm after about 20 minutes of testing this mod screws up the tooltip for traditions and the new sector settings on the planetary management interface. I did process of elimination and kept whittling down the possibilities until I disabled this mod and then I fixed the issue. Will this be updated for 2.3?
