Description
Thankyou for getting your hands on SAVTec's A.R.S.E
Don't worry... I washed it this morning!

All the usual quality from SAVTec
  • 100% mod-free
  • No scripts. Build uses 6 Pistons and 3 Rotors - all very stable & well tested
  • Nice neat control panel - everything named & grouped
  • Ideal 1st-tier upgrade to the SAVTec T-442 series light cargo trucks (links below)
  • Suitable for use on planets with or without atmosphere
  • Perfect for new players. Just as useful for seasoned veterans

Get yer A.R.S.E. out!
Ever wished your G.A.S.F.A.R.T's would last longer?
Does your T.A.R.T just not carry enough of the load?
Then say hello to my A.R.S.E!

The A.R.S.E is, like you would expect, an Agumented-Range Service Expansion for the SAVTec
T-442 series of light cargo trucks... it's a trailer.

Like any good trailer, your A.R.S.E will follow you closely wherever you go and if you treat it with respect, it wont fall off!

The A.R.S.E of many uses
This particular A.R.S.E is designed to add both range and cargo capacity to the T-442, allowing it to remain useful and in regular service for longer in your survival games, which in turn, allows you to concentrate more on building other things, such as expanded facilities for your base or perhaps your first space-craft.

A.R.S.E's can however be easily re-configured to play a different "tune". You could add a Survival Kit for instance... extra spare parts containers... more spare wheels, your choice of spare blocks to use as recovery equipment. You could even convert your A.R.S.E to produce and contain Hydrogen! The possibilities are endless!

Things you never knew your A.R.S.E could do
The A.R.S.E has a number of cool features, most notably the independent suspension bogie, which has a huge amount of travel and can cope with being dragged over some fairly serious terrain.
  • Powered variable diff-lock (helpful for getting unstuck or traversing awkward / steep terrain
  • Can be detached easily at the push of a button
  • Has its own parking leg so it's always ready to hook up
  • Powerful work lights to the sides, toggled by convenient buttons
  • Rear-facing Camera & Connector
  • 2x Spare wheel
  • 1x Large Battery
  • 4x Cargo Containers

Control that A.R.S.E of yours will you!
You can control your A.R.S.E easily if you choose to. I've configured the trucks hotbars to include the trailer controls. Hotkeys are now layed out thusly...
  • Hotbar #1: Batteries, engine, main systems
  • Hotbar #2: Driving controls
  • Hotbar #3: Emergency recovery controls

Be propelled along by your A.R.S.E!
With its variable "diff-lock", the A.R.S.E can actually assist your truck in getting out of pretty much any situation. To use the diff-lock effectively you'll want to familiarise yourself with the 3 hotkeys on hotbar #2 for increasing, decreasing and resetting propulsion override for the trailer axle.
In normal driving conditions the diff lock isn't needed, so press hotkey #3 to reset it to 0.
For steep inclines you can increase it with hotkey #2.
For emergency situations where the vehicle is stuck on terrain, you can also set it to reverse with hotkey #4.

The mountain doesn't go to Mohammed...
Well... not unless Sersi Lanister tells him to I guess... but that's besides the point.
The point is that you need to modify your F.A.R.T's and not your A.R.S.E.
A.R.S.E depends on certain minor modifications being made to your F.A.R.T's and T.A.R.T's. This involves removing the Connector to make way for the towing hitch. Unfortunately the tradeoff is that you'll be improving the vehicles' capability but you'll have to load & unload the truck itself manually.
This seemed like a better solution than building some huge damned contraption with Advanced Rotors & Connectors that looked horrible and didn't really work very well.

The modifications are all quite simple to do. In fact you can overlay a projection of this blueprint on top of your existing F.A.R.T's & T.A.R.T's, grind away the blocks that are no longer needed and just weld up the new ones.

When constructing the A.R.S.E in survival mode you'll need to get clever about how you build it, since it has mutliple sub-grids. I advise starting with the main trailer body, then adding the axle & hitch manually. They're really simple to build. Just have a look at the blueprint in Creative mode first and you'll know how to copy it.
If you're really lazy & want everything handed to you on a plate... well tough!

A.R.S.E goes hand in hand with A.S.S!
The onboard A.S.S (Awesome Self-righting System) found on my T-442 series trucks can also right the vehicle WITH the trailer attached (give or take for terrain conditions and the resting position of the truck & trailer). This makes your A.S.S triply awesome... you could even go so far as to call it an A.A.A.S.S!

Comments / questions / suggestions / constructive criticism all very welcome.
I've even been known to do the odd request-build from time to time, so if you have an idea, drop me a line. If I like it I may build it.

@Paradox... If you mean the wheels on the truck then you need to make sure the vehicle is suspended high enough off the ground for the wheels to have enough room to spawn. If the ground is inside the area where the wheel would spawn, the game wont spawn it.

If you mean the wheels on the trailer, that's because they're on a separate sub-grid and projectors don't project sub-grids. Sadly there's no way around that - it's just how projectors work.
When you build the trailer & complete the rotor for the back axle, just add a single armour block to the end of the rotor, then a left & right wheel suspension on the sides of that. Suspension blocks are left & right handed don't forget, so be sure to get them on the correct sides or the Diff Lock feature will make one wheel spin one way and the other spin the opposite.

i'm not sure if its known but the wheel dont spawn when using a projector

@Grave... I appreciate your candour. It's ok though, we all do it! There are things on the net (and in life - but mostly on the net) that make me want to crawl under a rug. Very occasionally though I'll catch me betraying myself by laughing at one of them.
I do hope you're able to look past the names, as I think you'll find the vehicles themselves really useful. I'll normally build in a cool trick or two as well, so you never know - they may give you ideas that you can adapt for use on your own builds.

In any event, just know that it's all intended in good humour and that no offence to anyone is ever meant. I build to entertain people, not to offer insult. There's no underlying message or agenda to anything I write - I just do what makes me laugh and publish it in the hope that others will share my humour.

yaknow, I said that, but then I realized I giggle at my friend's inappropriate faction tag next to antenna names.

Maybe I'll see how they look when I'm looking at them ingame. They still make me cringe, but I don't hate... most of them.

@Grave... Can't please all of the people all of the time, eh! I'm glad you like the builds - if you want to change the names for your own personal use please go right ahead. All I ask is that you don't re-publish them on the workshop under new names unless you've made significant changes to the builds themselves, and that you give a credit & link in your description if you do re-publish new versions.
Enjoy! :steamhappy:

I keep seeing your mods, they look nice and I could see myself using them. However your naming humor makes me cringe every time I look at it and I would probably have to store all the blueprints locally with new names and descriptions if I used them.
