Immersive Sound

Description
This is a placeholder link to my latest Quality of Life + Immersion Effort, Immersive Sound.

I've logged thousands of hours in Total War titles and after a while you get tired of the non-stop aural feedback.

Clicks, Cymbal Crash, Metal Clank, Bell Chimes, Collapsing Rubble, etc...

I find that the constant ruckus takes away from the battle sounds as well, which should be the loudest moments of any game.

So, I present to you three modified sound files which will simply remove all the clang and clatter from the game (campaign and battle) without removing diplomatic voice-acting and battle noise.

I also removed all the terrible, cheesy unit dialogue ("Oi Mate, you look like you need to sneeze. etc..") which utterly crushes immersion at times.

Installation:

1. Follow this link to download the three necessary files:

mediafireDOTcom/folder/arln0pn5srfln/Immersive_Sound_-_Rome_II

2. Obviously the "DOT" needs to be manually input to "."

3. Copy/Paste three files from your Rome II data folder to a safe place for backup. These files are sound.pack, sound_rome2.pack and local_en_shared_rome2.pack

4. Now place my version of sound.pack, sound_rome2.pack and local_en_shared_rome2.pack into the same folder, and you're all set.

5. Unsubscribe from the mod on the workshop. The file downloaded by Steam is an empty placeholder and most development notes will be posted here: twcenter DOT net/forums/showthread.php?796359-MOD-Immersive-Sound-Overhaul&p=15781422#post15781422.

Uninstallation:

1. To revert, simply drop your original files back into the Rome II directory and overwrite the mod files.

I'm not sure how to edit volume, these packs simply remove the .wem and associated sound files. I think it should be possible, but the sounds would have to be extracted into a sound editor then repackaged. Not sure this is available via freeware and would probably require sound editing software.

i hope it removes strange crackling sound in battles when you zoom its soo annoying as it does not happen all the time but most of the time which ruins this game experience.

why not remove the diplomatic voices? I can't play the game anymore because all the "barbarian" races sound like cartoons

This mod should remove "attack" sounds.

Question does this remove the horn sound every time you click a unit to attack anything?

This mod has earned a permanent spot in my load order. It removes all the annoying/repetitive button sounds and UI effects that makes the game feel too video-gamey. With this mod on, the game both in terms of campaign and battle feels more cinematic and immersive

Awesome work, it's definitely more peaceful!

I'd like to make a request please: may we have a version that only removes a few certain lines? I personally prefer having the battle banter but there are some lines that do get really annoying (I've seen graveyard whores blah blah blah) and (stop that screaming (as a dude burns alive)).

I understand it'd probably be a lot of work but I figured I try and ask. Thank you for taking the time to upload your mods.

Did not remove any ambient noise, only the more obnoxious UI indicators. Backup your native files and try it out.
