The Burning Rain

Description
All wars are over, the last world war took place across the globe in a desperate attempt to stop the White Plague, ending in vain, and now the world lies in ruin.

15 years ago the bombs fell, they tried to control the outbreak of the White Plague with nuclear weaponry, chemical agents, and even mind-control experiments and tests.

But all their tests, weaponry, and main goals were defeated and as a result of mass destructions, land poisoned with chemical agents, there are 'dead' walking among the living; Zombies.

After all these events, stripped of mind and reason, leaving only an empty, mindless shell. The brainless bodies then turn into zombies, following only the most basic instincts, wandering aimlessly around the land without weapons or even clothing. Some zombies are little more than sluggish walking corpses, caring only about food and sleep, some can run even. They eat and drink just about anything they can get their hands on. Usually, they roam the land without any apparent purpose. However, as soon as they sense the presence of a human being, they attack immediately.

Experienced travelers have learned to avoid them if they can.

The zombies are somewhat all that roams the lands of Chernarus, there really isn't much else to see.

Some wandering survivors speak of other creatures, that some believe to be folk stories from Slavic mythology, or perhaps just stories to frighten other survivor groups from wandering the wastes.

Nevertheless, you are one of the few that survived. This is YOUR story.

Disclaimer:

This scenario is recommended for hardcore players only. It is extremely difficult and you will face many threats to your survival. You need to scavenge for food, water, and medicine in a post-nuclear war Chernarus. You can find some valuable items in military zones, but beware of the dangers. Some enemies or situations in the scenario are fatal and impossible to escape. If you die, you lose everything, but your world progress is saved. This scenario mimics a multiplayer game mode, but you play alone. If you are ready for this challenge, we hope you enjoy it!

Recommended mods that are also compatible:

Mods to avoid:
Further testing shows these mods are incompatible with the scenario.
  • Enhanced Movement Mod by badbenson
(Can break on reloading, requiring Moduload as a fix. And can eat a solid 5 - 10FPS in densely populated areas, more depending on hardware, this is due to EM creating "walk-able surfaces" near the player. It is suggested to use ACE climbing key-binds in it's place.)

  • Outlaw's Moduload
(Once mods are reinitialized, Custom ACE actions can break, or scenario can crash to main menu.)

  • SSPCM Mod
(Can crash your game if attempting to utilize the splendid camera, avoid using this.)

  • VCOM AI (I am already running VCOM via script version)

  • MCC / ZEUS like mods (Zeus has been known to cause issues with grid mechanics when attempting to reload a worlds Database, MCC allows free edits to a scenario when live, this isn’t a good idea due to how heavily scripted & modified the scenario file already is)

ACE integration things to know:

It is not required for the user to have the original ACE3 mod release. Instead, only the extension, specifically the “Misery - Survival ACE3 extension”, is needed. This is a custom ACE3 package that has been specifically constructed for use with The Burning Rain. [/i]

Important Notes:

Due to the heaviness of this scenario and how many scripts it runs within it's background, it is an extremely good idea to not go above the "Required / Recommended" Mod limit.
