Description
Summary: Removes the rivalry bonuses you get when putting generals hating each other in the same army.



Detail:

Having generals of certain relationships in the same army grants the following bonuses:

Nemesis: 50% increase in ranged damage, 50% increase in ranged armor piercing, 50% increase in melee damage, 50% increase in melee armor piercing.

Oathsworn: 10% increase ranged block chance, +10 morale.

Most likely meant as a bonus given when generals of opposing forces in rival relationships clash on the battlefield, the current application of the system incentivizes putting characters with conflicting personality in an army which makes the whole Guanxi system pointless especially because satisfaction penalty(mere -8 for a rival) is easily manageable and rivalry bonuses are literally 10 times stronger than friendship bonuses.



Reasoning behind the mod:

I created a thread about this but it didn't raise any awareness of the players. I found that lots of people actually think getting 200 bonus by having a rival within the same army who could sabotage you and thrust a knife in your back as opposed to 20 bonus by having an oathsworn brother to trust your back in the same army makes sense, and devs might not address it because of that. I don't think it makes sense at all.

If you have an ounce of societal experience, you should know that having rivalries at the top makes any organizations dysfunctional with meaningless and misdirected competitions, lack of cooperations, and sabotages; no, it doesn't make you 'work hard' to outdo your rivals; that is some shonen-manga stuff that doesn't exist in real life.

Currently the balance is so out of whack that making armies of generals who hate each other is more preferable than the opposite. -8 satisfaction penalty is negligible. That's why I made this mod.

It would be better if I could find a way to only apply the bonus when generals are in the opposite faction, but for now I'm using this quickfix to balance the gameplay.

nah u need to put 1 oathsworn and 1 nemesis for your "main" general so that he get both buffs

It means rivalry between other factions and rivalry doesnt have melee evasion. You mistook it for oathsworn bonus

The game actually says in the advice that rivalries can push people to be better and the patch notes specifically nerfed the melee evasion from rivalries. Seems intentional.

im pretty sure they do that to provide choice, do you want generals competing with eahc other? (rivalry and hungry generals are more effective) or do you want happy more content (less hungry/effective) generals. TW incorporates RP into their strategy really well. mechanics like this are usually designed with that in mind

I did not even realize the "Nemesis" bonuses in the game until now. If what you described is true, then it should be fixed by CA too. I have been using a mod to remove negative relationships completely (generals will not hate each other anymore), is that better or not?
