Rise of the Republic: Unit Expansion (Over 90 New Units!)

Description
Rise of the Republic: Revamped

After weeks of work, I am proud to finally present my unit roster expansion for Rise of the Republic. Very similar to my Wrath of Sparta: Revamped mod, this unit pack includes approximately 90 new units added across all 9 playable factions (& some minors too) in the RotR campaign. No one is left out! All factions are spruced up to further add to their character with NO roster bloat and without diluting what makes them distinct & unique in the first place. All units are balanced for vanilla & are usable in both campaign and custom battle.

Enjoy! Please report any bugs you find.

THE UNITS

Senones: uncle Brennus is coming for Rome, and he's packing heat. He's bringing Woad Raiders (coming in both dual axe, and axe/shield flavors), Throwing Axemen, Woodsmen (which you might remember from Medieval 2), Night Raiders, Warmaidens, Oathsworn, and Helveti Long Spears which are basically a really smelly phalanx.

Syracuse: being the technologically advanced wonder that it is, can gain access to Gastraphetes (an early crossbow unit), as well as a proto-pikemen unit in the end game. They have an assortment of powerful cavalry as well (including the Tyrant Somatophylax), but they lack solid infantry.

Taras: their close relationship with their mother-city Sparta allows them access to limited quantities of Spartan troops. They have hands down the best spearmen in the game in addition to a solid-if-limited cavalry roster. They lack long-range capabilities, however.

Tarchuna: the Etruscans are what inspired me to make this mod to begin with! Their roster was uninspired imo, and they have been given some nice late-game units to make use of their T5 and T6 barracks, as well as a new line of militia-tier troops available from their provincial capitals.

Insubres: the more civilized of the two Gallic tribes, the Insubres have access to the extremely powerful Highlanders who wield massive 2h swords, as well as Italo-Gallic hybrid units like the Highland Hoplites & Heavy Skirmishers. Finally, they have fanatic options in the Druids who buff the morale of your army, and the absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crazy Gaesatae who are completely naked and hurl spears at people before throwing their fully naked selves into the enemy's frontline.

Iolei: knock knock, it's the f*cking Sea Peoples coming to end civilization again. I don't even want to get into these guys. I mean they have units who punch people in the face in the base game, let alone what f*ckery they bring with them in this mod.

Veneti: Horses. Horses everywhere. Skirmisher Cavalry, Lancers, Heavy Cavalry, Cavalry Archers, you name it, there's a Veneti warrior riding it.

Samnites: hilly bois. Samnites don't do the whole "phalanx" thing. Samnites do the "run at you and murder r*pe you" thing. Barbed javelinmen, scattershot slingers, religious fanatics (seriously, the Samnites were hella fond of Hercules and Athena, as well as Mars of course). Play them long enough and you can even settle them down a bit and create your own Samnite Legionaries to roflstomp the pompous Romans with.

Rome: speaking of Romans, Rome has the best, most fleshed out roster of the vanilla game, so there was much less work to be done with them. That being said, they now can get some crappy archers in the form of Sagitarii, some dank Ensis Hastati, and the motherf*cking Arcani (Rome 1 anyone?) once Camillus' Reforms are researched. They also get upgrades to Latin Spearmen in the form of Scutum Spearmen (with square formation), and Scutum Centuriae (T2 spearmen). Shoutout the user Censor for the ideas for Rome!

FAQ:

1. Is this mod historically accurate?
- I have done extensive research on the factions for unit inspiration, but NO. It's not a history lesson or an encyclopedia. It's similar to Sebidee's (fantastic) Unit Roster Overhaul, where the main focus is fun and gameplay diversity rather than historical accuracy. There are plenty of great mods for strict historical accuracy if that's your thing, this isn't one of them.

2. Is this mod compatible with X?
-The mod should be compatible with literally everything that doesn't overhaul the entire RotR campaign.

3. Save game compatible?
-Yes, but once you start a campaign with this mod you CANNOT turn it off.

4. Recommended mods?
-I recommend playing with my Community Patch, but it's perfectly balance & playable vanilla.

If you enjoy my mods, please consider donating (no matter how small the amount), it is very much appreciated :)! <3

Special Thanks:
Sebidee - for his unit creation tutorial and for the throwing axe animations from his Unit Roster Overhaul mod. This mod simply wouldn't exist without him.
Dei vanilla icons mod - I tweaked a couple of their unit icons for use in this mod (mainly just the 2h icons) because I'm ♥♥♥♥ at art, and they're godly at it.
My girlfriend - for being supportive while I've been buried deep in modding hell.
CA - for the Assembly Kit
