Description
The comfortable sense of security of always having your portal gun at hand... The convenient sturdiness of weighted cubes... Have you been taking those for granted? Looks like you need a reminder that in this life, all things are fleeting.

Fleetingness is a series of maps that combine portal buttons and futbols. This second instalment adds cubes to the recipe while expanding on the portal gun on/off mechanics, and was conceived in December 2018. Playing part 1 before checking out this one may be useful. Please also consider trying out part 3.

Notes:
- Futbol throwing is required. However there is no need to build momentum or anything like that, just aim at the wanted direction and press E. You can throw a futbol vertically by aiming straight up.
- Stepping in the dissolving area will destroy any cube placed on a yellow button.
- A couple of steps in the last room involve some notion of speed and timing. Nothing too hard though.
- No glitches, cube tossing or other shenanigans are part of the intended solution.
- As a hint if you’re stuck towards the end of the map, here’s a move that’s part of the intended solution: https://youtu.be/nSUUL-I1TBU

Estimated difficulties:
Room 1: 1/10
Room 2: 2/10
Room 3: 4/10
Room 4: 6.5/10

Sorry for the absence of music. If that bothers you too much, I suggest you listen to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7lNsUy7N8k (right click on the video and select “loop”)

All credits for the portal gun on/off concept go to FLooper and tuleby (CZ).
All credits for the futbol go to Valve and TeamSpen210.

Huge thanks to Nobody No-One and bullfrog for playtesting and giving great advice.

Sorry for the late answer! Sounds like you enjoyed it a lot, and I'm glad to hear it! Good job for solving it, this one is definitely a tough nut to crack.
@mentallentil
Sorry to you too for my unresponsiveness to all your comments on my workshop lately... I will go through them all in the coming days to answer them. In the meantime, thank you for playing this one!

dude i overcomplicated this so much my solution was 20 minutes long and didnt get me anywhere but hey the puzzle state was different i guess. good map i managed to figure out the easy way that actually works

My god what a beast. Room 4's (or should I say 2 and 4) logic is unreal. I heard this map made very good use of the futbol, but its magical seeing how well it was used here. Figuring out the ultimate purpose of Room 2 gave me life. All of that for a ceiling surface! God damn. I also enjoyed Room 3 as well, I liked how many times you have to remove/re-insert the futbol. Faved without a doubt!

Big congrats for solving this one! The last part in particular can indeed be quite overwhelming. You're right that the move you said you skipped is quite minor, so I don't mind. All the crazy stuff you mention that's possible with futbols was indeed not what I wanted to go for. In fact, it made things considerably harder for me to design the maps because I had to take into account those crazy moves as potential unintended solutions. Initially, I also wasn't sure whether I would include futbol throwing as part of the solution, but it felt way too difficult to prevent entirely so I chose to embrace it. Anyway, onto the main dish now...

Ok I think I got it now. I was able to skip a tiny part in the intended solution video by Joric. I skipped the futbol maneuver @5:00 and never used the ceiling panel/portal. As far as I can remember that was because I previously swapped cubes in room #2 somehow (with a later sacrifice) - which was hard work! So I'd say it was a far more complicated way that made me skip a rather insignificant move. I could try to reproduce that and provide a video if you like...

Made it. Took me ages to complete (in a single continuous session). My brain is dried out. My problem is that right now I have no power left to check the walkthrough, and once my sanity returns I won't remember how I solved this beast ;D sorry but an ON/OFF map this size, with futbols and the backtracking can't be less than a 7...
I already struggled with room no.3, but no.4 was just insane. The last move ( intentionally erasing your portal gun ) was cool though.
For me the difficulty does not come from what you have to do, but what options you have to eliminate . You need to see what correlates. The end move was clear, but working with room #2 was tough.
In summary these ON/OFF maps are not my favourite ones. I'm glad the futbols weren't used in additional crazy ways (juggling, parking, swapping...). I give it a subjective "only just" thumbs up for it is really clever and got me out of my poor real life for some time ;-)

No, thank YOU for playing! You've been breezing through my workshop for a while, when I was away from Portal, and I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner to all of your nice comments.
