Solar Storm is a mod containing several events and gameplay elements related to them. These events are not stories of interest from a plot point of view. Their task is to diversify the gameplay on the galactic map, by adding an element such as space elements. If you still do not want spoilers and you like surprises, then I recommend that you skip the description and not read the details below, this may give you an element of surprise in the game.
Solar Storm includes 2 types of events, each of which represents a different chain of events:

Geographical events

These events arbitrarily make geography changes on the galactic map, which can change the position of your empire in terms of tactics, for better or worse. Hyperspace storms that arise in arbitrary systems (most often in unstable ones) change hyperlane, distorting them, adding new or completely isolating systems. You can never know when everything will return to normal, if at all ... In some situations, this can lead to the emergence of new wormholes and this will become incredible luck for you or a hole in the defense of the empire.
There are currently 3 types of hyperspace storms and the wormhole event. With the development of the mod, new variants of geographical events will appear.

Fleet and ship events

These events will affect your ships in the systems of new stars from the Real Space mod. Now your ships can no longer always safely fly through systems with young, unstable or collapsing stars. From now on, these systems are dangerous, you risk losing even a whole fleet. At the moment there are 3 types of events: Stellar Millstones, Solar Storm and Gamma-ray burst. The traits of the scientist and admiral will affect the chance of a safe passage through dangerous systems. Now it's Roamer and Scout. Also in the future you will be able to study technologies that will allow you to build special starbase modules. These modules will also significantly increase the chance of survival of ships, but only in your systems.
Young stars include: Protostar, T Tauri, Herbig Star and FUor.
Unstable stars include: Nova, Collapsar, Luminous Blue Variable, Wolf-Rayet stars and Microquasar.
The source of the gamma-ray burst is Collapsar and Magnetar

Solar Storm can be turned on at any stage of the game, it is not necessary to start the game again.

The recent Star Cluster submod will complement Solar Storm perfectly, because there are entire clusters of young and unstable stars.

It looks like the newest hotfix by the devs fixed the empty pop-ups. I was able to reinstate the mod middle of game without any problems.

Considering what it does, I'm assuming it should be safe to remove mid-game.

However, you can always load a save and see what happens. The save file should remain the same regardless of if the mod is on or off. So if it doesn't work you can always wait to resume.

So, with the fleet event bug being a thing. Is this mod safe to remove mid game? Or will I have to wait for an update in order to continue? Probably a really silly and dumb question I most likely already know the answer to, but I wanna continue my current campaign. If not, then I'll wait patiently.
