Formation Attack Re-Worked

This mod is now INCLUDED in my Vanilla Fixes Mod

In vanilla, there is no point in using formation attack, because it is actually a detriment. Same unit vs same unit, the unit NOT in formation attack wins. So here is my bandaid implementation.

Plenty of testing in custom battles etc. Same unit, 1v1, one without formation attack on, the other with it, The victor is always the one with it on. That doesn't mean it can't be implemented strategically. Formation attack is superior, but you can be caught out of position. On a charge, or flanking, you will want to disable.

What this mod does:

1. Removes the formation attack toggle provided by CA, and replaces it with a better version (until CA fixes it themselves)

2. All units who had vanilla formation attack, now have the NEW formation attack.

3. What does new formation attack do? Well pretty much the same as before but more:

(Positive)
-Units will try to stay in line formation when engaged in melee.
-Units that have formation attack toggle ON recieve a bonus vs infantry, and a morale boost.
-Minor fatigue resistance.

(Negative)
-Units in formation can not charge.
-If a unit is caught out of position and in combat before enabling formation attack, the ranks are broken and it can not be enabled.
-Speed Reduction.

4. Hoplite Phalanx reworked. It now has an elite version of the attack formation. Its combined with the same toggle as Hoplite phalanx. Basically same as above with the added stat bonuses of Hoplite Phalanx.

5. The AI will make use of this new formation attack.

6. To balance other formations with it:
-Missile block chance on Testudo formations increased additional 5%.
-Missile block chance added to Shield Screen, and Shield Wall. (not as powerful as Testudo obviously)
-Extra bracing added to Shield Screen (since it is stationary after all)

7. Pikemen spacing fixed.

I hope you enjoy. The best I think can be done until CA properly figures out what they plan on doing with it. I play with it, I love it.

So your probably done with RTW2 by now. . . but in the off chance that you still enjoy tinkering with the game from time to time. . . is there any chance for an update to this mod? The bandaid is one of the best I've seen.

hello... this need an upgrade... first of all the romans dont throw the pilum and not charge because they use the formation and same happens with many troops that fight like romans making the use of the special hability of throwing javelins useless.... and second the hoplite phalanx does not mantain formation when they are fighting.... this is the best formation mod that i see i hope that you can fxx it :D

Hello X i. Another modder told me to ask you about help creating a mod that removes skirmish mode. So here i am. Is it possible for you to create such a mod? i tried myself but i can't do it.

and i found a solution to the unit attack when they are in formation.. the solution is very simply the only thing you must to do is use a mod who made more frecuently the combat animation lik this mod https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=683895635 ;)
