[ Difference from the original mode ]

- The changed temperature is applied even if you move the fuser.

- Scenarios with more rapid temperature changes were added.

- Added options for more temperature change rates that can be selected by editing the scenario.

- Events such as the food warehouse discovery have been removed.





[ original description ]

This mod allows any game condition which has a temperature offset to affect conditions on the world map. It also comes with three new game conditions - Solar Apocalypse, Rogue Planet and Ice Age. There are also three starting scenarios which use these new game conditions, but you can also use them in your own scenarios.

Some game conditions may require you to build a spaceship to escape the searing heat or freezing cold.

You may need to have the appropriate insulation to survive if you send out caravans.


- Solar Apocalypse

Solar activity increases at an alarming rate, creating a never-ending heatwave and runaway greenhouse effect.

This game condition slowly increases the temperature over the course of many years. At first this increase is quite small, but with each passing year the rise becomes more evident.

In addition, fewer animals will migrate into your part of the world, and plants will become scarce.

As even more time passes, your cooling systems will be unable to sink heat fast enough and this means you will be unable to grow crops or keep animals even indoors. Plants which are outside in the searing heat will die.


- Frozen Planet

Through misfortune, this rimworld has broken from its orbit and is steadily escaping its parent star.

This game condition decreases the temperature over the course of many years. Like Solar Apocalypse, the decrease starts out small but gets bigger with each passing year.

Again, plant and animal density will decrease as the temperature gets lower.

Because of the nature of the map condition, less light will reach the surface and you will get less power from solar panels.

Temperatures will eventually reach -200C or lower.


- Ice Age

A climate shift on this rimworld has led to much colder temperatures globally. This winter will never cease and, as the temperature drops, fewer and fewer animals and plants will be able to endure the cold. Additionally, less light reaches the surface, making solar panels less effective.

Yeah, unfortunately, it is really lacking. I tried looking into the code, there are separate scripts dedicated to exactly circumnavigating this issue but I guess they weren't properly updated during transition from 1.0 or broke along the years. I lack technical knowledge to rewrite or even reassemble it so I made an update request at Mlie's discord. Let us hope someone will be able to return this mod to its former glory.

Huh, didn't know that. Interesting to hear that it used to affect caravans in the past.

Killeres77, it was a working feature in 1.0 version of this mod back in 2018/19, thus the question. The temp levels were actually dropping across the whole globe, on every map square which made caravan travelling impossible in the later years.

As far as I am aware Viscount, this mod cannot affect caravans. The mod adds map conditions, and so only affect playable areas like the colony, caravan events, and visited/raided settlements.

No idea if there is something to add in caravan-affecting conditions, though it's worth a lookup.

Anyone else has the problem that global temperature doesn't change? Maps do get colder, yet overall temp levels around the globe do not drop which means that caravans are unaffected.

Just ran the mod in 1.5 Still works fine, at least with the Frozen Planet modifier.

It works for 1.4. no need to update it, just the 1.1 is misleading Yayo needs to change the tags.

So wanting an 1.4, seeing if i can get it working no promises most likely out of my ability
