Real Boosters - Pokemon TCG (up to Shining Fates)

Description
Contains boosters for every expansion released in the history of Pokemon TCG up to Shining Fates, randomly generated every time! Great for playing the sealed game variant, or to relive the nostalgia of cracking open some packs!

Features
  • Every English expansion booster pack released in the history of Pokemon TCG up to Shining Fates (90+ sets)!
  • Accurate drop rates*, card order, wrapper art and booster box models.
  • Includes a playmat, tokens and scripted energy counters so you can jump right into a 2-player sealed game!
* Check the discussion here for more information on drop rates.

Recommended Sealed Rules
  • Each player opens 6 boosters and makes a 40 card deck. You cannot have more than 4 cards with the same name in a deck.
  • You may add as many Basic Energy cards as you need (energy spawners are included in the Deckbuilding Areas).
  • Place 4 prizes instead of 6 at the start of the game.

When using the Deckbuilding Areas, it is recommended to reduce the hidden zone opacity to make things easier to see. You can do this by going to: Menu -> Configuration -> Interface -> Misc. Settings -> Hidden Zone Show Opacity (Change to 0.01)

Tip: If you need help choosing boosters, shuffle and draw from the Random Booster deck! Select boosters from only one series for a more balanced experience.

Next update: Updates halted indefinitely. Find links to updated versions in the bottom.

I have decided to stop updating this mod due to time constraints and the need to focus on other priorities in my life. Thanks to everyone who gave feedback and helped development, Ryomyking for allowing me to use his cards, and thank you for playing! If anyone wants to continue updating this mod, feel free to copy everything into your own mod and use any assets that I created. Hope you enjoyed this mod! :)

Reply to those who want to take over:
Unfortunately, I don't have the time to give a step by step process. But what I can do is share all the files I used to create new sets, which includes photoshop files and some text notes with reminders of the steps. It's not especially organized but it's better than starting from scratch for anyone who wants to take over. Not going to lie, it's not an easy process so best of luck to you brave soul.

FAQ
  • How do I get packs and how do I open them?

You can get packs by pulling them out of the booster boxes on the display tables or by using the Random Booster deck.

To open packs, simply pull the cards out of the packs. Note that opening too many packs at once might cause the game to slow down. It is recommended to take turns opening packs to prevent issues.

  • How do I use the Random Booster deck?

Start by shuffling the Random Booster deck. Then place any number of cards from the deck in the designated area above the "Get Packs" button. Make sure you are seated (choose an available player color) and press the button to receive your packs.

Tip: Separate the Random Booster deck into series and play one series at a time for a balanced experience or mix and match series to spice things up.
  • How do I use the Energy Counters?

To use the Energy Counters, drop energy cards onto the E tokens. Click on the energy icons to get the energy cards back out of the Energy Counter. The Energy Counter tokens are bags; you can pull energy cards back out of them and they can be searched. You can also move them when moving around your Pokemon by grabbing onto the E tokens. Special Energy with ongoing or special effects will have a unique icon to differentiate them from other energy cards.

  • How do I move Pokemon with their energy?

You can click the small "^" buttons under the benched Energy Counters to switch all cards, tokens and Energy Counters with the Battle Field. Be careful with overlapping cards; it is recommended to place attachments under and above Pokemon to avoid accidently moving attachments that overlap with other bench areas.

  • Can I make my own booster? How do I do that?

Scripting is required to make your own boosters using my method. Check out the Advanced Booster Making Guide discussion for more information.

  • Will you keep this mod up to date when new expansions come out?

I have decided to stop updating this mod due to time constraints and the need to focus on other priorities in my life. Thanks to everyone who gave feedback and helped development, Ryomyking for allowing me to use his cards, and thank you for playing! If anyone wants to continue updating this mod, feel free to copy everything into your own mod and use any assets that I created. Hope you enjoyed this mod! :)

  • Will you make Real Boosters - Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG or other TCGs?

No, I don't have any plans to start a booster mod for other games. You might want to check out my Advanced Booster Making Guide if you want to make your own booster mod similar to this one. You may use or remix my tcg booster box models for other mods; all I ask for is credit to this mod in the description.

Any chance you could add Astral Radiance now that english cards are out?

When a pack is opened, it runs a script that determines whether the pack contains a rare, ultra rare, etc. Next, it randomly selects an appropriate card for each rarity slot, searches the deck, and destroys all other cards in the deck. This means that each pack contains every card in the set, and in later sets they contain duplicates of the commons, uncommons, and rares to act as reverse holos. So, opening a pack is searching and selectively deleting from 52 to 463 cards. I get similar lag when manually searching a large deck, so I suspect that is the source of the lag spike. This idea is supported by lag time differences between sets of very different sizes: try opening a Fossil pack (smallest set) and a Cosmic Eclipse pack (biggest set)!

just curious, why does the game's framerate tank so hard when opening boosters?
TheKuhlOne 5 Aug, 2021 @ 12:06pm
Hi everyone! With Lotus Assassin's blessing, I have re-uploaded the mod with the additions of Battle Styles (BST) and Chilling Reign (CRE). I intend to support the mod indefinitely, so you can expect to see the Evolving Skies expansion as well when it is available!

Here is the mod:

@TheKuhlOne I'm okay with you taking the reigns and reposting the whole mod; after all it is a lot of work to maintain and if you pull it off, it'll be your baby then.

As for the box art, the images never come flat. It's a lot of photoshop, scouring the web for good shots of each side, screenshotting youtube videos, and using images from auction sites. For the new sets, you should be able to get all you need from the official Pokemon TCG store when the set page is up, or leaked official store images, and also some youtube videos for any missing sides. Flatten and clean them up in photoshop, color correct so that they all match (if they come from different sources), then you can put them in the template psds from the source files and you should be good.
TheKuhlOne 20 Jul, 2021 @ 9:39am
@Lotus Assassin The only thing I haven't been able to replicate is the box art: I assume you're making the models, but where are you getting those flat-pack images/textures? Also, I'll be ready to add on BST and CRE booster boxes soon: is it possible to give me editing permissions for the mod, or should I repost the whole mod myself, or do you have another idea? Feel free to DM me to proceed if you prefer :)

For anyone reading who is interested in having access to BST, CRE, and the future sets, stay posted!

@Lotus Assassin I am interested in updating this for the latest set but my TTS modding skills aren't quite there yet: would you be willing to guide me through your process so I can replicate it? Your guide was a good start but I need a bit more help!
