Alien Color Variety [WOTC]

Description
Inspiration

I always thought it was a little weird how every Alien was identical. Every species on earth has visual diversity so why wouldn't a coalition of Aliens from all different planets be just as varied? Also aliens don't seem to have any sort of uniform so I figured some might wear different colored armor as well. This will add a fair bit of visual diversity to your game so you don't feel like you are fighting a clone of the same alien you fought in the last mission.

Additions

  • 4 additional Muton skins (one who's a clear reference to a certain Star Wars character...)
  • 4 additional Berserker skins (One of which is 15% bigger than the standard berserker)
  • 4 additional Sectoid skins
  • 4 additional Viper skins
  • 4 additional Archon skins
  • 1 additional Andromedon skin (disabled by default because of issues switching between controlled and robot stages)

**Requirements**

Enemy Reskinner -- you absolutely need this for this mod to work since the latest update. Go give it a thumbs up as well! Without his work, it would have been way more difficulty for me to make the skins configurable.

Suggestions

Consider this mod in an 'Early Access' stage: everything is working properly of course, but I am very much listening to suggestions! If you have any ideas for recolors/textures (or even want to contribute a texture/model) please let me know in the Discussion tab! I can't guarantee every suggestion will make it in but I'll try my hand at any of them. I want to expand this mod as much as possible (within reason of course.)

Configuration

You can disable, enable, and overwrite skins in the XComEnemyReskinnerRedux.ini of this mod!

Compatibility

This mod now runs on Enemy Reskinner so there should be no imcompatibilities (aside from any native to that mod.)

Known Issues
  • Andromedon skins are buggy, so I'm leaving them disabled by default.
  • Often, the pod reveal cinematics will use the wrong skin. This plagues many mods that add a lot of new pawn archetypes. I recommend using No Pod Reveal Cinematics if it bothers you too much.

Credits

-@MrMister for the idea to migrate to Enemy Reskinner
-Firaxis for the base skins, these are all just recolors/textures

Pink aliens... I think Peter Griffin would say; "Oh, that's gay." for some reason... (PS: Peter Griffin is Peter Griffin, he will always say random stuff that might be interpreted as rude)

Kinda surprised nobody's made this for Allies Unknown yet, huh

It can work alongside them, I've used this with my own with no issues since this mod just adds skins but doesn't replace any like my own does.

so how does this work with other reskinner mods?

Update with new skins?

@TheGamingArchaeologist: You need to find the right ID for the alien but I can confirm it works for at least the first skin in the Armory, I do not know if ingame it will show the randomised mix or not. The IDs are typically in the source folder, on the file "[SomethingElse]_Characters.uc". They are typically in this format:

CharTemplate.strPawnArchetypes.AddItem(" GameUnit_Chryssalid.ARC_GameUnit_Chryssalid ")

Is this compatible with the diverse archon mod?

Can this be used to reskin ally aliens from mods like Allies Unknown?

this mod seems to work as intended, for the most part. other then the pod cutscenes being strange, this mod seems to mostly work.

I think the reason playable aliens doesn't work is it uses different names. But the order card does change the skin for the accompanied allies on missions.
