Strategic Reloading

Description
In XCOM CS, you are never out of ammo. Firing from a Breach ***costs no Ammo*** (I just noticed it testing this today) and during play there are almost never any spots where expending your ammo unintelligently causes any issues. All perks that provide free reloads are jokes. Reloading doesnt even require a full turn anyway. The shotgun is the king. This is an attempt to bring more strategy to the tactical layer.

EFFECTS (XCOM AND ENEMIES ALIKE)

Moves all guns to a 3/2/1 ammo system.

- Shotguns are single charge.
- SMGs and Pistols have 2 shots.
- Rifles have 3 shots.
- All unlimited ammo pistols are now 3 shots (1 bonus shot).

Remember, breach fire costs ***nothing***. NOTHING. But not for the enemies though! Barrage costs ammo!

Autoloader and Enhanced clips are WAY more valuable! +1 Clip size or +5 aim on your shotgun? Now it's a real decision.

SIDE EFFECTS
- Zephyr is more valuable due to not having ammo. Axiom somewhat also.

NERFS
- Blue Blood: Fond Farewell damage is down to 150% from 200% since it will trigger almost twice as much.

FIXES / BUFFS
- Ventilate and Scattershot now only cost 1 Ammo.
- Hail Of Bullets restructured. It costs 2 Ammo, is not 100% guaranteed to hit but gives +50 to aim (you will still have to pick non full cover targets). It crits, but not often. It disorients the target sometimes. Cooldown unchanged (3).

CONSIDERATIONS
- I'm perfectly aware that this is not realistic.
- I thought about giving epic weapons more ammo, but it would just make you stronger and give enemies no advantage.
- Yes this is an indirect nerf to Faceoff. Get some ammo expansions.

COMPATIBILITY

- RealityMachina's Bluescreen/Caustic Ammo mod gives a -1 ammo penalty, so it breaks this mod. Do not use it.

Not compatible with Grobo's Tactical Overhaul Mod, either because
it is integrated into it or fundamentally conflicts with it.

VERSIONS
V2.0 - Manual code update to aliens that did not use INI settings:
Turret: 3 (Was infinite), Sectopod 3, MEC 2, Andromedon 2, Codex 2, Gatekeeper 2 (Was infinite), Archon 2

V2.1 - Characters should now shut the F up about ammo.

Reread my first comment.

Its not just for breach fire its also in game, you could spend entire fights without reloading just firing away. I've also tried IIRC to add a cost to Breach Fire and it bugs out.

Instead of limiting magazine size to make ammo consideration a thing, you could simply add an ammo cost to breach firing.

Im not super active but im opened to some specific fixes. What about breach firing?

Not sure if you are still actively modding, but I've been checking out some of your work in preparation for another playthrough. In my House Rules mod, I did implement ammo costs for breach firing. You should copy that code over if it'll help you accomplish what you want with the ammo economy.

I have not found a better solution at the time. I thought about editing the narrative for characters but its one giant array and removing entries 108 to 116 for example would break the whole thing anyway

@ADVENT Avenger
Yep, doneso, just seems like nuking a city to kill one annoying parrot, there's gotta be a better solution to this. But you do you. Using lots of your mods for this playthrough, having fun so far.

Yup it was. Remove the line if you want in INI

Seen how ini is set up, looks like nuking all voicelines was intentional. Confused_jackie.jpg
