Description

Paperback

Word-building meets deck-building in the unique game Paperback.
Players start with a deck of letter cards and wild cards.
Each hand they form words, and purchase more powerful letters based on how well their word scored.
Most letters have abilities that activate when then are used in a word, such as drawing more cards or double letter score.
Players buy wilds to gain victory points.

Mod Notes

This started out as a fork of Red Inferno's version.

I've made a number of changes, such as (non-exhaustive list):

  • Fixed all the errors and broken code
  • Replaced the draw/discard mats with ones that are more aesthetically pleasing
  • Updated the deck with higher resolution cards, better color, eliminated the black border on the fronts and restored the white border on the backs to match the actual cards.
  • Replaced the tablet with an improved version that lets you increase the resolution (credit to Triiz)
  • Cards that are stripped out due to differences in number of players are now kept on the table for those who might want to use them anyway
  • Added a tool that lets any player shuffle their hand to help find words using the NumPad 1 key (credit to Perendi for the original code)
  • Repackaged the expansions to make it clearer as to what cards belong to what expansion
  • Added place keepers for the words to be played
  • Changed the table (credit to MrStump).
  • Supports saved/loaded games. Remembers the game state, including whose turn it is.

Features:

  • Game takes care of the full setup. Advanced setup includes the Attack cards.
  • Scripted gameplay mechanics - pile management and end of turn mechanics (see below).
  • At the end of each turn, any cards played in the main area as well as what's left in your hand are automatically cleaned up into your Discard pile, and a new hand of 5 cards is drawn. This can be turned off for any player via the button at the top of their draw/discard mat.
  • You can shuffle your hand to make it easier to find words by using the NumPad 1 key.
  • Expansions (themes, powers, awards, cubes) are in the pouch at the rear of the table.

Note:
The end of turn scripting will draw the standard 5 cards into your hand. If you had any cards that allow you to draw extra cards, you can add those manually from your Draw pile.

Works really well. There is a couple objects that don't load up, but the scripting works great.

i fixed it... I delayed the gameStarted=1 by slightly longer than the other delays in the advanced setup function. Then I made the onObjectLeaveScriptingZone condition include gameStarted=1, so that the advanced cards entering the decks don't accidentally trigger the 2nd row offer fill code. If you'd like the exact code let me know, otherwise I may end up uploading a fork. Thanks again

really love this mod, but I get a scripting error when using the advanced setup: Error in Script (Global): <Unknown Error>
