Healthcare++

Description
2.8.x Version: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2459766581

TL;DR: Makes healthcare great again by buffing the amenities provided by medical workers, adding stability on planets with a clinic, adding a healthcare related civic for megacorps and techs that buff medical workers and unlock additional building upgrades.

This mod is available in english and german. It is also compatible with french, polish, russian, simplified chinese and spanish (meaning if you play in any of those languages, the text will be displayed in english instead of placeholders/code).

I will gradually expand the content of this mod. For those of you that only want the health clinic/medical worker buff and nothing else, i created a fork called Gene Clinics Rebalanced (Healthcare++ Lite): https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2337717063

Features

- medical workers now provide 7 instead of 5 amenities
- clinics now provide 5 stability (10 when upgraded)
- added new civic "Involuntary Test Subjects", allowing medical workers to produce 2 society research and unlocking a new purge type (to use it, choose "Processing")
- added new civic "Pharma Group" (corporate authority) that provides 1 medical worker per 25 pops on a planet, allows medical workers to produce trade value and has a custom corporate building for branch offices
- 2 new upgrades for the gene clinic (you have to chose between them)
- 2 technologies that unlock the aformentioned upgrades and improve medical worker output

These changes should make up for the loss of a building slot and the pops in the early game by boosting the stability and thus production of other pops and buildings. Given that memorialists can build unlimited +10 stability buildings (yes, you have to take a civic, but you don't need specific research and you don't need pops working the building) i think this is balanced.

Future Plans

User Interaction so far has convinced me that almost everyone would be either indifferent or very happy about more features, so i plan on implementing the following (subject to change based on playtesting and feedback):

- more fleshed out technology (without buffing medical workers to a point where other amenity-jobs become useless)
- a new edict
- a new policy
- new planetary decision(s)
- events with multiple outcomes based on your decisions and government ethics
- an origin

All of them related to healthcare, of course - like collecting vius samples, vaccinating population (potentially also primitives), curing pops, etc. Rewards for completing them will include pops (need to cure them before they can work), unlocking a vaccine (positive trait for your pops), etc. I will include as many choices and outcomes (some related to your ethics) as possible, but that will take me multiple udpates.

Compatibility

Since i change the vanilla building and job, this mod has to overwrite the files common\pop_jobs\02_specialist_jobs and commonon\buildings\07_amenities_buildings. I play with a significant amount of popular mods and have not seen any incompatibilities, but if it does pose an issue in your configuration let me know. I am down to create a compatibility patch or potentially add a new building and a new job instead of modifying the vanilla version.

Recommended Mods

I made a healthcare related resolution tree for the galactic community, but given that i already have a mod for resolutions it's included there. Among other things, the resolutions add free (as in, no building required) medical worker jobs to each planet so there's a nice synergy with the contents of this mod. Other Notes

I am aware that paradox will change districts and buildings and i will keep an eye out on that and patch the mod ASAP. For anyone interested, this does not mean i won't update galactic community++ anymore, the mod is up to date and fully functional so there is no urgent need to release a new version. The planned features are simply very hard to implement. This mod was a way for me to prevent getting burned out while getting some additional experience (e.g. in regards to pop jobs, civics and modifiers).

I think adding +5/+10 Stability is too much.

@YutaniKaede the big problem this mod had was that paradox kinda made it redundant (in regards to the original intent, buffing gene clinics) by buffing them in a different way. I wasn't sure if i should just increase the buff paradox did (because i do think they are still quite weak), or revert paradox' buff and just keep the change i made - so i settled for runnign in a circle and doing nothing.

TL;DR: feel free to add me and talk about your idea, i don't have a lot of time right now but i'm motivated and that's honestly better than the other way around.

I have the most awesome idea involving the new dlc and this old gem, but sadly see it hasn't had any attention for a few years now.

Is there a chance it will get a revival? I loved doing megacorp with this on :-)

Thanks for the mod. It seems to use the old version of 02_specialist_jobs so things like the upgraded foundry building do not provide the extra resource per pop.

You don't have to use irony as long as you follow the other steps, it's mostly a suggestion to keep it from happening in the future.
