Swords of Gazul [OUTDATED, SUB TO THE NEW VERSION!]

Description
This mod started as a request to add Dwarf units with swords and then It became an attempt to create an holy army of Dwarf's fanatics, the moment I did stumble upon the minor ancestor God Gazul.
I was very interested in his story and by the fact that He has a runic Greatsword, which is pretty much what inspired this entire warcrim-AHEM, this mod, I meant this mod :) .

As you can see this mod comes with a plethora of new units:
-Black Shields (Dwarf Warriors With Swords) tier 1
-Grim Stalkers (Rangers With Dual Swords) tier 3
-Grim Stalkers (Greatsword & Throwing Axes) tier 3
-Grim Guardians (Sword & Shield And Blasting Charges) tier 4
-Grim Avengers (Sword & Shield And Crossbow With Flame Arrows) tier 3
-Blazing Reckoning (Incendiary Mortar) tier 5
-Souldrakes tier 4
-Guardians Of The Flaming Vengeance tier 4
-Zealots Of The Flaming Vengeance tier 4

Ok, presentation over: let's dive into the technical stuff!

*BALANCE*

As always: I tried my best to not make them too broken.
Their stats are mostly on par with vanilla units except for some minor changes here and there.
Keep in mind that I have tested them in custom battles only though.
That means that I'm not taking into account Lord's Campaign Bonuses.
Putting all of that aside, they should fit in the Dwarf roster nicely without *squatting* the Old World in the process (hopefully).
NOTICE: The Blazing Reckoning, Souldrakes, Guardians of the Flaming Vengeance and the Zealots of the Flaming Vengeance are very strong units designed to fight against overwhelming odds, so they are supposed to be broken.
This is reflected by their high cost and upkeep, but if by any chance you feel like they are so broken to the point of being unfair please do tell.
Balancing It's a hard thing to do, especially with this kind of units, but It's not impossible with good 'ol feedbacks! :)

*COMPATIBILITY*

As far as I know this mod works with pretty much everything that do not mess with vanilla units.
I'm playing the game with 60+ different mods and everything is working fine.
The mod is NOT save compatible.
If you want the armies of Gazul in your campaign you'll have to start a new one.

*KNOWN ISSUES*

-This is not a issue...it's rather an aesthetic problem.
Let's address the elephant in the room right away.
As you may have already guessed by some of the screenshots, swords props look fine on some Dwarf models and not so good on others.
Especially the greatswords.
That's due to the fact that the Dwarf's animations section for two hands weapons is limited to axes and hammers.
I tried to use cross-culture animations too but since certain type of skeletons are supposed to work ONLY with certain type of 3D models, I ended up facing major visual distortions every time.
That said, I do think that we can all agree about the fact that those rangers holding their greatswords like THAT look just silly, but please try to understand also this: I couldn't make a mod about Gazul without making at least one unit with greatswords...I just couldn't! ç_ç
While I still think that a greatsword animation for Dwarfs is totally feasible with custom skeletons/animations/models ecc... that's far above my current modding skills, sorry about that fellas.

*UPDATES POLICY*

Let me be straight with you...when the mod status change from updated to outdated....if you start to spam in the comment section things like "update pls, OMG UPDATE, can we have an update my good sir?, UpDaTe!1!1!1" and similar stuff....know that https://media.giphy.com/media/e3URFlLQywEPC/giphy.gif

...But jokes aside: please don't do that.
When it becomes necessary, and when I can, I will update my stuff, do not worry.

*Q&A*
1) "I'm skilled enough to give this units a proper greatsword animation. Can I use your mod as a template and then publish it?"
-Yes. Just credit me and erase from your brain my unique indexes.
2) " I like this concept, can I expand It by adding new units, custom decals, custom models, create a new custom faction ecc... ?"
-Hell yes you can: may you get all the Dark Gods blessing, 'cause you already have mine!
Just credit me and erase from your brain my unique indexes.

And that's all I guess!
Credits time!

Firstly I would like to thank all the artists who made those Warhammer original pics that I have modified, thank you!
Thanks to Sythropo https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/id/pixelparadise for his great Weapon Resource Pack mod! https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2394969694
All of his models are superb but that Grudge Raker...oh boy, It was instant love! Support this and all of his future works, please!
Any of this would not have been possible without Frodo45127's RPFM which is still updated to this very day, thank you!
I would also like to thank Sebidee and Caligula for their great modding guides!
Thanks to @YourUgly https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/profiles/76561198434895638 for suggesting the creation of Dwarf units with swords and thus making of all this possible.
And I would like to thank you!
Whatever you liked my mod or not thanks a bunch for giving it a try!

Bad news boys, It's seems that my latest updates for fixing a problem with unique indexes broke everything.
I will try to fix this in the coming days by re-releasing all my mods.
Sorry for the inconvenience and please be patient.

Very true, functionally Runic arts are Dwarf approximations of the winds, they may even be attached to one of the winds, or even a kind of natural magic, but I won't act like a Dwarf expert as I haven't read up on them much - Healing Runes, and those that chip away at Undead health pools, would be ideal

@TheRotKing Indeed, full magic access would not be lore-friendly that's for sure, or at very least would end up like Chaos Dwarf.
Maybe there was some kind of runic power with healing properties?
They are Clerics after all, so they should focusing on heal the wounded and such.

@zerg93 That's the one, the Thunderhoof Boar Riders!
I was gutted to see the mod wasn't up to date, I would have loved some Dwarf cav but i don't risk any mods that may not be so, but nvm

I would include spellcasters for Dwarfs, however there seems to be a lore-based impediment to that - They by and large can't or won't cast magic. I think there has been one in lore, but it seems the Dwarfs are so rooted in the native earth that they are not so easily swayed by the temptation to access the winds of chaos -
Having said that, the Chaos Dwarfs may be a separate army but are of the same race,
and we know what happens when they practice magic in their wicked worship of Hashut...

@TheRotKing Not Wolves but hairy enough! https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1308901733&searchtext=dwarf+cavalry

Personally I would suggest other Guardian units, maybe other runic/magical units and the Clerics of Gazul which should have access to the lore of life.
Chungus Amongus 22 Feb, 2021 @ 1:54pm
You got all the above such as the swords, some crossbows, the mortar (doesn't hit your own guys like the Empire one) and throw in a unique ranger unit, and what else?
Before I write a whole new army book here and now, I'll say that there's the Order of Guardians, a group of undead hunters that predate most Imperial Witch Hunter Orders, and saw on here that someone made some cavalry for Dwarfs, too! I want to say they were wolf riders, but it might have been something equally hairy like my Grandad's back.

Any other suggestions?

For the Cult of Gazul, the Ancestor God and protector of the dead, a focus on traditional weapons (no guns or harpoons for infantry, and no gyros) but innovating in other ways would make sense, as they are sombre creatures. I'd say a focus on buffing them up to be absolutely LETHAL against the undead in every respect and nothing else would be the way.
Not 100% sure if I'd add the flamethrower for as perfect a weapon it would be against waves of undead, a melee focused faction wouldn't exactly appreciate having lava dunked on their head, it's like burning your hand on hot tomato sauce as you pull the baked beans out of the microwave, but caused by someone else and a lot worse.
