British Rail Class 158 SUPER SPRINTER (001) [LEADING CAR] [OUTDATED SEE V2]

Description
New release Class 158 V2 ‘Express Sprinter’: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2814513222

Welcome to my British Rail Class 158 in my own prototype style colours!

Overview:
The British Rail Class 158 is a DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) made by British Rail Engineering Limited. Since this is a DMU this means the set uses the power of each engine from each train. It is designed so the composite information is shared through electrical connectors which can be connected by the user when coupled to the other train. It uses a dual master system, so when the intended cab is used it will control the engine throttle, braking, reverser setting on the opposite one. The train has also been limited to around 90MPH just like the real thing however its notch system isnt perfect. It dosent have the predicted range to travel between the arctic and main islands. However I will be making a future version for longer range driving.

Livery:
This is my own basic prototype still livery, dont be fooled this is the production version. Expect more liveries in the future, if you wish to upload a livery of this train, feel free. But make sure to inform me first in the "Request livery upload" discussion.

[THE IMAGES SHOWN ARE OF AN OLDER VERSION, SO FEATURES YOU SEE MAY BE ALTERED IN THE DOWNLOADED VERSION!]

How to connect:
1. First spawn the leading car.
2. Go inside the cab through the nose door at the front of the unit.
3. At the bottom of the cab, turn off the parking brake.
4. Go outside the train and at the back, use the character to push the unit out of the spawn area.
5. Stop the unit outside the spawn area and go back inside and set the parking brake.
6. Go back to the workshop and spawn the trailing car.
7. Undo the parking brake in the trailing car and use the character to push towards the leading car.
8. Connect the couplers on each unit to each other by holding e or q on each one.

How to start:
Before going into the train, check both units have a battery level of at least 1.2 or above. (the battery level for each engine can be checked through a dial located near the engine cooling racks and adjacent to the fuel tank.

1. Go inside both cabs and make sure both circuit breakers behind the cab seat are on, and the parking brake on in the preferred driving cab.
2. Hit cab master on the preferred driving cab at the very top.
3. On the top left of the cab turn on the engine pumps and simply hit the engine On/Off switch.
4. Check you are getting RPS above 2 on both engines. (the opposite engine dial can be seen at the top of the cab instead of having to walk all the way over the opposite one)
5. Hit the reverser neutral button a few times.
6. Hold down brake decrease button or the brake decrease seat button for 5 seconds.
7. Set the daylights or night depending on the time on the preferred cab.
8. Turn on the tail lights in the opposite unused cab (turn off cab master in the preferred cab before doing so for opposite cab access)
9. Make sure the nose front door lock buttons are on

How to drive:
1. Turn off parking brake
2. Set reverser into desired setting (1 = forward, -1 = reverse)
3. Make sure the brakes are at 0
4. Increase a notch of power to start moving

Tips for drivers:
-If you want to maintain a rough speed a notch setting cant get you, use a combination of notch power and braking to get a desired speed.
-Always check your doors are locked before departure (orange light on the outside means the doors are unlocked)
-When departing, always go straight to notch 7 (notch 6 if raining to avoid wheel slip) and after 22 MPH back off on the power and slowly increase it with speed

Misc:
The train has a onboard lua text information display, showing a bunch of options for the driver to choose from a pre-set of text destinations. However this creation does not have any domestic arctic destinations, it will be added on a certain livery later on.
If the master cab conflict warning shows in the cab, make sure ONLY the preferred cab has the cab master switch turned on otherwise the train will refuse to operate if both or none of them are turned on.
There is a panel for the train conductor to access, which has SDO (separate door operation, basically stop doors from opening that are not over a platform), a PA for annoucments, and a driver buzzer to give the driver the all clear signal. This panel can be accessed by a key switch located at the front left door of each car (it’s more hidden inside the top left gap where the curtain linear rail track is moved to. This will open up a panel to your right which is the conductors panel. (The SDO only works for each car) there is not a SDO for the opposite car in the same panel

Questions:
If you have any, please let me know in the discussion below

Don’t forget to upvote my creation to help support it, thank you

Please respect my creation and do not reupload without my permission. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Oh and by the way this is stormlink compatible. Seating capacity on this train is 52, on different liveries it may be different.

FAQ:
Q: how do you open the doors?
A: you must turn on the master switch in the cab then press the right or left unlock switches at which point you can open and close the passenger doors. You can get inside the cab by going through the nose doors by grabbing onto a handle on the roof of the nose bridge.

Hey Corporal, these units are my first serious rail builds and are not as advanced as my later units. The only current multiple units i have made with functional multiple working is the BR Class 334 V2. Those can be coupled together to form a fully functional and in sync 6 car unit. A link to these electric multiple units can be found here:

Sorry for those wishing to make 4 or 6 car sets! The Class 334 V1 and the class 220 also do not have multiple working right now

Can these work in multiple units? (I.E 2 sets coupled)

Hey Cc8tv thanks for the nice words about the unit. If you are looking for a better painted train I recommend you check out CaptainGears fictional class 158 livery. It’s much better than mine and has a nicely detailed interior. Here is the link: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2577591591
