DEI - Persian Glory/Achaemenid Restoration (V.1.4)

Description
THIS MOD REQUIRES Divide Et Impera parts 1,2 and 3!!

What does the mod do?
Hi all!

This mod converts "Atropatkan", or Media in the DEI mod into am OP eastern faction which basically lets you play an alternate history Achaemenid restoration a few centuries sooner alongside the rise of the Romans. What more could you ask? Ahura Mazda be praised!
  • Native Median roster revamped, generally buffed to be stronger and feel more "Achaemenid" with a bit of hellenic touch to try to reflect the period in terms of equipment. Unit prices have been adjusted for balance purposes.
  • Certain Parthian, Greek, Armenian units selected to be included in the Median roster to serve as auxiliaries.
  • Indian war elephants, Syrian war elephants, and Scythed chariots added to the Median roster to augment their imperial roster.
  • Late Median units buffed and slightly adjusted to give them a "proto-sassanid" yet neo-achaemenid feeling as much as possible.
  • Median generals all given new looks.
  • Eastern/Atropatkan officers and standard bearers revamped to appear more achaemenid and proto-sassanid.
  • Various faction bonuses to Atropatene to help their ascendancy in the east. These bonuses are not however guaranteed to help them survive or expand when played by the AI.
  • A replacement of the Median flag into an Achaemenid eagle and a recolor of their flags into red, whilst keeping their faction color Green to distinguish them from the Romans. Ideally they would have been Persian blue, but since there were no blue flags available I just went with the green/red Iranian combo.

Why Persia?
1. Persia was the most requested faction to be "overhauled" like Armenia was in my Armenian Glory mod.
2. It's been years since DEI became an established mod for R2, and plenty of submods came out for Sparta, Rome, and other Hellenic states. But not one for the eastern factions. Anachronistic and ahistorical though it may be, why not a nonetheless amazing Achaemenid restoration mod for DEI? Somebody had to do it.

Is it balanced?
In the early game, Media is pretty well balanced with both strengths and weaknesses. In the late game however, they gain access to units that fill in a lot of niches and save high quality heavy melee infantry and pike units, your roster will have everything, countering just about anything. The Median faction itself has been given powerful effects to boost its campaign. Furthermore, you can also use two other submods of mine which nearly eliminates diplomatic penalties for vassalizing minor factions into satraps immediately after declaring war on them and buffs the benefits of having vassals too.

However, I do have a recommendation for those who want an actual challenge. This mod buffs Rome in several ways, making them an absolute ****ing menace in the hands of the AI.

Installation & Compatibility
  • To install, first subscribe to this mod, and place this mod above the 3 DEI parts in the mod launcher.
  • Due to the complex nature of this submod, you most likely should place this submod above other submods.
  • This mod is save game compatible, but may become incompatible with future updates of DEI.
  • Although this mod will be multiplayer compatible, multiplayer in R2 is often a very buggy process that I will not be able help much should it become an issue. All I can say regarding this is make sure both parties have the identical setup and mod load order when attempting multiplayer.
  • Note that this mod is NOT COMPATIBLE with its Armenian counterpart that was recently uploaded here.

Credits
All of the texts and entries used in making this submod are not my original work, and are credited to the DEI team. I have merely rearranged & edited existing content from DEI and the R2 native files to create this submod. Seriously, go make a donation for DEI or something. The project deserves it. Credit goes to wiff wiff for providing the badass screenshots used in this mod page. Oh, and finally, I am open to suggestions on balance or aesthetic improvements so do feel free to leave your comments below.

Try playing the mod till turn 240+ when all the reforms should have hit. If it still doesn't work then let me know.

Thanks, your model is great. I am a loyal follower of the First Persian Empire.

I saw it. Sorry, I didn't notice this request. Three cities, plus you have to play until round 211 to unlock the reforms.

They should be dependent on DEI's native reforms.

Cannot use Royal Immortals, Foot Royal Guards, and late Parthian units QAQ

Well, I don't think it's a big deal. The shields and clothing in his mod are beautiful but the rest are just the same old assets with better definition. I personally don't use HD mods at all because it just worsens the game's performance too much. Plus I play with 40 units per army.

That's a shame, HD assets would make this mod perfect (though its perfect already)

It should be, but it would ruin the intended aesthetics of this mod. I was hoping he would allow me to incorporate his designs into this mod as a collab, but alas there was no reply.
