The coast, but a little more normal.

//Requirements//
Nothing should be required as it should all be packed into the bsp. The map file itself should be "gm_coast_prewar_v2", minus the quotation marks.

Do note that while no game should be required, the size and scope of the map might cause some issues for users on lower end PCs despite rigorous optimization. As well, be aware that despite attempts to prevent conflicts, other workshop items might still conflict with assets used in the map.

//Gameplay//
  • Raised the water level back to something closer to normal. This includes putting boats back into dock and buoys out in the water to show map limits.
  • Fixed the bridge and some of the docks so everything feels more functional.
  • Two locations to teleport to including the docks and the tunnel at the end of the map.
  • Large map with big open water areas. Perfect for boats and other aquatic vehicles.
  • A number of the original interactive map elements remain including the magnetic crane and the warehouse vehicle jump.
  • A long road along the cliffs, perfect for driving along.
  • Docks have been cleared up a bit more to allow for more driving around.
  • The old map start acts as a secluded beach.
  • AI nodes for most of the solid ground.

While in the Gmod Sandbox mode, any dead bodies, blood stains, activated map scripts or other changes can be cleaned/reset using this: Pressing Q -> Utilities -> Admin -> Cleanup -> Cleanup Everything

//Development//
This map mostly came out of the desire to see what it would look like honestly. The original map is pretty well known and I wanted to see what would change. And because I love the coast section and wanted some more stuff from the coast on my workshop(s). Overall I am quite happy with it.

I was a little disappointed when looking to see that I wouldn't be able to expand the map physically beyond what was here though as it's built up right to the edges of hammer's usable space. Anything more and it will start deleting stuff for me.

//Closing//
This was a fun, quick little build. If you want more of this style of smaller map, let me know! I do plan on going back and doing some more regular HL-inspired stuff.

Alright, I updated the map. I think I have fixed some early prop fadeout and some brushes that weren't behaving correctly.

I think it might've been something with the fact that the ramp is grabbable
Maybe get rid of that feature or somethin
