Gigantea -- A Colossal Map for 24 Starts

Description
Hail, aspiring Conqueror!

Welcome to Gigantea, the largest world yet discovered. Wild and untamed things grow bolder in the outer rim, howling at the impenetrable curtain of stone that defends the inner kingdoms of Men. Those kingdoms, once ruled from the arid central region by a powerful emperor, now are riven into 16 warring factions. Yet rumors exist that a new emperor rises to begin his reconquista. Other and far more sinister rumors whisper that a dark and unholy power gathers in a remote and guarded valley.

Meanwhile few remember the ancient curse put on the most prosperous region of the realm when the First Emperor betrayed his allies in the first Great War. Let us hope that is only an old maid's tale to frighten naughty children.

Enjoy your sojourn in Gigantea!

Introduction

The basic idea behind Gigantea was to get a huge and gleefully imbalanced free-for-all started, with lots of chokepoints and opportunities for strategy in holding back an opponent that got a better starting position, and to hopefully pit several imbalanced factions against each other till there's a rough kind of semi-balance when they all smash together.

So here is a 99x99 map with two handcrafted planes, for 24 factions. It even has a bit of lore and perhaps a few surprises coded into it.

New Changes

Believe it or not, but after two years of going dormant, I finally toned down the absurd spawns.

Suggested Starting Positions

This map has 24 fixed starts. Some will put you outside the rim, in the wild lands. Many will put you in the melee of civilized lands. There's a hidden Druid vale. The central, but optional, feature is the two final factions intended to be overpowered.

The option of playing anything in any slot has been preserved, but suggested factions are the following:

Slots 1-4: (Barbarian, Druid, Troll King, Dryad Queen, Witch, Kobold King)
Slots 5-21: (Baron, Senator, Hoburg, Voice of El, Demonologist, etc)
Slot 22: (Druid or Troll King)
Slot 23: Senator
Slot 24: Necromancer

This will give you the set-up that I play myself. See the picture of the map for the numbered start positions.

Additional Notes

Everyone gets two citadels. A suicide prevention mod shouldn't be needed. New to this version, an external ant-neutralizing mod shouldn't be necessary, nor anything preventing mad cultists. Introduced instead are mildly cataclysmic events.

The kind of map that you want to be play alongside another game so you have something to do during the six minutes between turns. Absolutely worth it. I ended up plopping down a cheap summon ritual unit on auto next to a patch of lava so that they'd wander in and the extremely loud "Someone is on fucking fire" turn start noise would let me know when it's done loading.

By the way, I actually put forest factions on the 9th and 7th slot and this also works quite well (for example, the barbarian), so in fact this map is quite universal

This is "the" CoE5 map. But damn, those turn times...

The bakemono faction is(almost) unplayable, their starting stronghold is occupied by dwarves and they have no starting army.

Nothing is automatic, the slots are designed to better suit certain characters because resources etc but you should set everything manually

Let's day you want to play as Troll King, create 24 races, ser them races that better suit slots, and change the 22th slot of the list to Human player and Troll King

When you choose and set races for AI and yourself don't put your human in the first position of the list

How do you add the spawn points? I was trying to reverse engineer it but couldnt figure out how to open Gigantica in the map editor. I have a little map for me and my friend to pvp each other and I cant figure out the spawning system any help please?

I believe there's one option that still has a similar spawn rate for the deep horde, except for the balrogs, which were probably spammed a bit too much.
