DIAH Rebalanced Tech Tiers

Description
ORIGINAL MOD: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2044790782

Hey, do you think that research goes by way too fast in Stellaris? So do I. So, using another mod as a base (and a huge thank you to atr14 for making the original mod and putting it under a permissive licence), I made it go by less fast.

Most of the details are in the description of the original, so I'd recommend going there for it, but the rough effect should be that a lot of high-end techs come much later. Like, 2450s later.

I'd like to thank the author of the original mod, atr14, again; as well as GearheadLydia for actually understanding numbers to let me put the ESC techs in line with this mod.

If you find this mod to be extremely unfair, I'd first like to recommend trying it alongside GE&M, like I suggested up there. If you still find it to be a bit much, feel free to comment and I'll do what I can.

COMPATIBLE WITH:

NOTE: If you want to use the above mods with this one, Gigastructural Engineering & More is basically mandatory, as it allows your research to get very big. Otherwise, you're just not going to be able to research high-end stuff without waiting years for basic theory.

If a mod you enjoy isn't marked as being compatible, don't fret: it's entirely possible that it still is! Some mods make use of the vanilla tech cost thingies, and thus do not require a specific patch. If you've found a mod like that, please let me know, and I'll add it to the list!
If you think that a mod is not compatible, please feel free to ask me for a patch! I'll do my best to put something together for you, unless said mod is on the list below.

NOT COMPATIBLE WITH:
  • Nothing (that I know of)! Hooray!

Love the mod! Unsure how 4.0 will effect it

Added Gigas compat. Celebrate with me!

I do wish that Stellaris would stop randomly murdering mods each major update, but that's just a me thing. Maybe some kind of versioning like Rimworld does so you just keep multiple versions of the mod in your download, and then choose different files based on version.

but no. pdx wants to use the clausewitz engine until the end of time.

lol

what's always annoying (imo) is mod authors will often go "it works, no update". Thing is, that big yellow error is annoying, and cann't be trusted. I think they should do an update, even if it is soely a discriptor change.

Just my opinion (:

@blueyedevil, that's very much appreciated, thank you! I'm 95% confident that an update will not be necessary, but regardless, I was planning to get a bit of playtime in today (with 99% of my mods dead, big mean PDX), so I'll see if it's on fire today.

Love the mod! I'm not sure an update for 3.8 is even necessary, but here is encouragement to keep the mod going anyway!

That was my plan! Now I just have to get it to a point where I'm happy with it. Easier said than done...

then, it should definitely be a second "uses lots of overrides, warning" mod!

Oh, I've already started on Gigas, don't worry. I'm kinda just going through the whole thing as I play a game, and once I've got everything, stamping a big old "WARNING: THIS USES OVERRIDES AND WILL LIKELY BREAK PAINFULLY SOONER RATHER THAN LATER" on the mod description.

for gigastructures, maybe you could try something like just multiplying the general tech costs for that mod? A sort of "if Giga: Mult by "x"". If that can't work, another option would be to overwrite a couple of techs, and lock it behind a new tech that's realitivly expensive (But, that's not too balanced).

Could also just go "It's gigas, who cares"!

Just some thoughts! Neat mod! Not (inately) my "cup of tea", but still awesome nonetheless, and I'm sure I would use it if I could, you know, actually successfully play stellaris...

P.S.
There is a mod I like that, while I haven't tested it, I highly doubt it's fully compatible (It might be, as this mod author is pretty thourough. But, I can't quite tell). It's called Stellaris Evolved: Alpha . I definitely think native compat would be great (Assuming it isn't already).

Shouldn't be "too hard" to check. Just a thought, of course!
