WELCOME TO VANILLA EXPANDED EXTRA EMBRASURES!

As a CE player that likes Vanilla Expanded mods, I was missing embrasure variants of some of the defensive walls from Vanilla Expanded.

With some small effort I put together the Combat Extended embrasures and some of the walls from Vanilla Expanded so I can have it in my current playthrough and decided to share it with the community.

And no, you don't need Combat Extended to use this mod.





Embrasures share a lot of structural similarities with their wall counterpart from vanilla / VE / Rimeffect they cost the same amount of materials to make, they have around 20% less HP and cost around 25% more work to make.

The main difference, for those of you who don't know, is that the wall offers full cover and protects closed rooms from light and temperature while the embrasure is more similar to an impassable sandbag.

Basic Embrasure
Included for players not using Combat Extended. Functions as a simple cover with line-of-sight, useful for early-game or minimalist setups.



This mod adds embrasure variants for walls from several popular mods, with matching mechanics and visuals.

Vanilla Factions Expanded – Medieval 2
Adds Castle Embrasure, which follows the same mechanics as Castle Walls — it becomes passable once its health drops below a threshold, until repaired.

Vanilla Furniture Expanded – Architect
Armored Wall Embrasure to match the Armored Wall
Fine Wall Embrasure (requires Royalty DLC) to match the Fine Wall

ReBuild: Doors and Corners
Adds Rustic Embrasure for Rustic Walls
Full texture support so embrasures blend seamlessly with their respective wall types

Includes support for Alpha Memes scavenger, steampunk and kemetic styles.Alpha Memes support is only available for version 1.5. I no longer use it myself, and maintaining compatibility has become too time-consuming.



Q: Do I need Combat Extended?
A: No. It works with and without Combat Extended.

Q: Can the mod be added to existing saves?
A: Yes.

Q: Can the mod be removed from existing saves?
A: Is never a good practice to remove mods from ongoing saves. That said, this mod is quite simple and you should be able to fully remove it if you do it properly.

Update Summary:
- Removed support for RimWorld 1.4 and outdated/abandoned mods
- Added support for 1.6 — currently includes only the Basic Embrasure until other mods update

@isalcaruz That's part of the vanilla creature/animal behavior and is outside the scope of this mod. However, there are definitely other mods out there that allow creatures to attack doors and walls if that's the behavior you're looking for.

This mod is great but I have a problem with the behavior of enemies in close combat. When I create a sort of bunker or closed area with these defenses and a regular door as an entrance or exit (or completely closed), the enemies don't attack the wall or anything to try to get through. Instead, they just wander around outside the barricade, and the colonists only have to play target practice. The fact that there is good defense against gunfights is great, but any attack from enemies without ranged weapons (vanilla or mods) makes the game too easy. This generally happens with animals and creatures (from mods like the VOID zombies or the necromorphs from the Army of Fetid Corpses). I suppose the normal behavior should be that they charge at the embrasures and try to get through to attack the colonists inside. I don't know if there is a version that makes animal or creature-type enemies attack these walls; if that were the case, it wouldn't feel so broken.

honestly same as archangel here, really annoying how enemies climb through my walls via the "short" walls that i need inorder to shoot from

You do not need CE for this mod, it is stated this mod is compatible with CE.

Are the embrasures supposed to split rooms? Because right now it seems like it breaks rooms.
