Scavenger Game Mode

Description
Fundamentally changes the style of game play to center more around scavenging for parts from encounters instead of digging up ores and refining them.

It accomplishes this by restricting what blocks are available to place by the player and removing the ability to craft components in the survival kit.

Because large batteries cannot be directly placed by players in this mod, I've disabled the "scrap mechanic" for power cells for them. You can now safely hack larger batteries without loosing power cells. Small Grid Small batteries will still give you scrap in place of the two power cells.

Does not contain any scripts.

I strongly suggest using a custom start vehicle to maximize the experience.
A rover from my Scavenger Rover collection for example.

This is intended to use with something like MES to provide a supply of encounters to salvage from.
An encounter pack designed specifically for this type of game:
MES Scavenger Encounters

A world save with a bunch of mods intended to provide a complete salvage experience.
Junk Punk

These packs are good to add after you have progressed a bit to give you more variety.
Abandoned Settlements
Wasteland Encounters

You could also use this mod to spice up an existing scenario such as the Lost Colony or Frostbite.
( To add a mod to a scenario, first start it and immediately save and exit. Then select that save in the load screen and modify it. )

To assist with removing and adding parts I strongly suggest using the Advanced Welding mod.

Special Thanks To:
This mod was heavily inspired by the excellent Escape From Mars scenario.
Watching Splitsie's Scavenger Hunt series helped motivate me to get back to working on it.

CAUTION:
Disable progression when using this mod unless you enjoy pulling your hair out.

WARNING:
Because of how it works, this mod will conflict with any mod that alters the attributes of the hidden Vanilla/DLC blocks, the survival kits, or basic assembler.
Mods that add new blocks should work fine, but they will not be hidden to the player.

FINAL NOTE:
I have no plans at this time to add support for modded blocks.

Yeah, once I realized load order made a difference I didn't think there was much you could do about it, was just more of an FYI. I didn't know about the dummy block aspect, that's useful info. Things like animation systems are beyond my level of talent/creativity when it comes to modding.

Thanks for the tip about the survival kit. I should be able to fix that.

Unfortunately there isn't anything that can really be done about the cockpit change aside from adjusting the load order. Cosmetic mods often have to include dummy block definitions to force assets to be loaded and those might overwrite the changes I made.

First off, I like the mod. Like you I'm a huge fan of the scavenger playstyle and the Scavenger Hunt series. I've used this mod a few different times while attempting to build a mod set for my own entertainment and I've noticed a couple things you may or may not be aware of:

Even though the Cockpit Reanimation mod is only supposed to be a cosmetic change, if you have it set in your mod order to load before this one it will allow you to build the enclosed cockpits, but everything works properly if loaded after. I figured with the way the animation system is supposed to work it shouldn't matter, but apparently it does.

Also, even though you can't search directly for the basic assembler, if building a survival kit on large grid and you use the scroll function it allows you to build it. This was tested in a clean start with no other mods.

Thanks for the mod, and I hope the feedback helps.
