[B42 & B41] The Scent of Blood

Description
Please Rate Up if you like this mod!

Did you fall in the shower and get a piece of glass lodged in your groin, but the Zombies seemed more concerned about your little cold?

No longer will you be forced to deal with your wounds alone!
*warning, zombies may not actually aid you and may in fact try to kill you.

How the Mod works
The default settings are recommended but if you find yourself looking for something more challenging - or more casual, all of these settings can be modified to your liking.
  • Bleeding, un-bandaged wounds attract zombies to your location.
  • The smaller the wound, the less likely you are to attract attention. (Scratches only attracting zombies that are very close by vs. deep bleeding wounds.
  • Each injury stacks. Having a scratch on each body part will attract more zombies than a single laceration on your arm.
  • Change your bandage! If your bandage gets dirty, it will attract zombies.
  • Having a dirty bandage is better than an un-bandaged wound (toggle-able on/off and percentage).

How Dirty Bandage Modifiers work:
If your cut modifier is set to 20, a dirty bandaged cut will have a total range of 20 at 100%, 15 at 75%, 10 at 50%, 5 at 25%, 0 at 0%

So try to look at the percentages from a point of "how much of my wound can they smell from under a dirty bandage".

  • 100% - I might as well not be wearing this dirty bandage. Makes no difference.
  • 75% - Dirty Bandage is pretty ineffective but its better than nothing.
  • 50% - I should clean this bandage as soon as I can. But its keeping me safe for now.
  • 25% - My wound is pretty well covered, they can only partially smell it.
  • 0% - Don't worry about washing it, they can't smell through the dirty bandage at all.

Recommended mods:

Based on Ogre Leg's Danger Zone: Scent of Blood, code has been fully refactored but the original inspiration still stands.

why does starving zombies not appear in my mod menu after downloading?

@marshmallow justice Completely safe to remove mid save.

Ok i will try it out, having the two together would be so good because of how WZ makes hordes and movement so active/natural. Make getting bled so much more dangerous. If it doesn't seem to be working, is it safe to remove mid save after install?

@marshmallow justice
Should be compatible.

@Krast
I have no idea if this works with the day one/week one mod. I'm not sure how the NPCs are setup so use at your own risk!

Sweet, just noticed this was updated. Ive been using starving zombies for awhile, and reading your comments i see they work together, so that is perfect!

@Fuyuno
They work together, yes. Not the same :) The starving zombies mod has an optional mode where bloodied clothes and bloodied weapons attract zombies as well as dead zombie bodies.

This mod only makes it so specifically un-bandaged injuries, active bleeding and injuries covered with dirty bandages attract zombies.

I use them together in my playthroughs!

thanks for the update :D
does this mod work with the one you recommended? or do they both essentially do the same?
