What This Mod Does

This mod removes all of the faction specific army buff skills. It does not remove the leadership tree entirely. Rather it moves the leadership skills into a single tree with single dependencies. This makes it much easier to achieve the AoE leadership and defensive buff skills but i didn't want to mess around with adding level requirements to those.

It does not remove any special, unique, or lord specific leadership skills. Only the ones in the red leadership tree. As a result legendary lords that have specific unit type buffs retain the values of those bonuses.

Why This Mod Does What It Does

There are five reasons

1) They make lords uninteresting: This is because they are simply too good. Non-Spellcasters have almost no reason not to immediately go down the leadership tree. As a result non-spellcaster lords are more or less stat sticks until a good point in the game.

2) They make army composition homogeneous: This is because once you have a set of army skills you have a significant incentive to stack those unit types. This is boring.

3) They discourage the use of heroes: Heroes, until they're high level and well equipped cannot compete with basic units in power. Even at high level and decently equipped they might not be a match for high veterancy units. With no army buff skills heroes can bring value to an army immediately. And using heroes in your army is generally more fun than not.

4) They produce highly variable AI army strengths: Even if the AI decides to get the right skills it might not get the right army to go with those skills. Players that utilize red skills will often run into armies with a combat or campaign focused lord and simply win on the fact that his basic units are stronger. If the player simply chooses to not use the skills(for the above reasons) they might run into armies that are way too strong simply because the lord accidentally chose the right skills.

5) I am not proficient enough in Warhammer 2 modding or in idea creation to come up with a solution that preserves army buff skills while fixing the above four points

Does the Mod Do What it Says it Does?

It should? I have done some decent testing but cannot do complete testing because i do not own the DLCs. I have updated this mod for all base WH3 content which should include all WH2 mod content. Please let me know if i missed anything though i probably will not be updating the WH2 version of this mod

Specifically there are some heroes (elf and beastmen) which might have gotten caught up in my heuristic and have problems. If you come across anything that isn't working or seems to be working incorrectly please let me know.

Also note that I have experienced some increased initial load times as i am using a cludge of re-assigning the relevant skills to a champion of "none" in the database. I don't know how to remove red skills without re-assigning those skills in that manner so that is what I did. Similarly the dependencies of the leadership buff skills are duplicated a few times for a similar reason.

Compatibility Notes

The mod should be compatible with any mod that does not effect the red skill trees. I did have some issues with some of the leadership skills in that while editing the pack the manager lost track of my changes. And as such i have a few lines (all in the leadership red trees) that are duplicates of existing lines and may rewite a mod back to default if this is placed in the load order after them.

Any mod which does effect red skill trees is likely to have compatibility issues.

Any mod which adds new lords is likely to have compatibility issues. Those lords may not have their army buff trees removed and/or the mod may add army buff trees back into other lords while messing up the requirements to achieve the leadership skills. I do not recommend using this with mods that add new lords from scratch but editing those mods to remove the red trees from those lords is not that difficult and i would be happy to explain how to do it. I may, but will not guarantee, making compatibility patches for an overhaul and am likely to only do that if i really like the lord pack/mod
