YG-M2 missile

Description
YG-M2 "Cobra" anti-air missile

YG-M2 is a radar guided missile which uses an overcomplicated guidance to hit air, ground and sea targets. The missile is designed to be compact(as for 3x3 missiles) and to hit maneuverable, moving and static, air, ground and sea targets.

But it is very easy to use.
Just point it into target(sensor FOV is 90°) and shoot from your vehicle.

Better launch this from a plane.

Missile features
- Compact(as a 3x3 missile)
- Able to track at any attack angles
- Lead guidance, energy effective
- Can hit maneuverable air targets
- Remembers target's last position

Missile characeristics

Missile size
14x3x3 blocks
Range
about 2 km
Max speed
>415 m/s
Guidance
Relative, velocity aim + PIDs with var gain + Var lead + pursuit > lead smooth transition

Missile effectiveness comparison(against air targets):
YG M1 < YG V-1A, YG-7 < YG-V2A < YG-M2
(YG-M2 and YG V-1A are currently my best missiles on workshop)

How to use
Just place it on a hardpoint like you do with other missiles and shoot into a target.

You should let the missile lock the target before launch - the target will be locked if it is inside 90° FOV.

[Optionally] For 360 degrees fov feature to work before launch, you can add an external electricity source to hardpoint.

Info about the guidance

In this missile I use unique guidance method. It is NOT a proportional navigation but it leads the target.
The guidance is based on position, velocity, orientation vectors and rotating, projecting operations with these vectors.

The missile microcontroller is made out of 2 modules - a target position calculating module and the guidance module.
The target calculating module is an upgraded YGT-2 tracker with parallax compensation and quadratic extrapolation that outputs the position with accuracy up to 0.0006m at any orientation and off-boresight, compensating the error caused by difference between sensors position.

In the guidance module the missile calculates the lead to target based on missile's absolute speed and target's tangential movement(absolute movement projected on a plane that is perpendicular to LOS).
In other words, it builds a vector that mirrors the target lateral(to LOS) movement but with length of the missile's speed - and that is a lead vector.
Then missile aims it's velocity at the lead vector using angles that are relative to missile's orientation. I use LUA PID controllers to accurately aim the velocity on that vector. Also it helps the missile "stabilize" it's rotation relative to lead vector.

The guidance also uses variable PID gain based on sigmoidal functions of missile's absolute speed.
Missile also uses variable lead - before engagement the missile cruises to the target using pursuit guidance and then it smoothly translates from pursuit to lead guidance. It is made to not to loose energy when aiming at supermaneuverable target.

It required a lot of pain for me to develop the missile so I hope you will test it and press like if you enjoy it!

Feel free to use this missile in your own creations!
But please mention the missile's name or link to this page if you use it in your workshop creations.

If you found a bug in the vehicle, please write a comment on this page.

Does it still work and can u make it 4km range?

Impressive creation it works well with my jet and almost never miss as long as it have at least 200 m in order to have enough time to change direction given it's high speed. 9.5/10

Ok thank you.

@Bane882266 they don't require it
Bane882266 8 Aug, 2022 @ 7:16am
So these missiles not require a independent targeting unit?
YAGoOaR  [author] 8 Aug, 2022 @ 5:47am
@Bane882266, everything you need to connect each individual missile is to place it on a plane's hardpoint connector using select tool's "load" button. Then you can launch each individual missile if you send "on" signal to it's hardpoint's launch node
You can take multiple missile launch microcontroller from VLS version of this missile(link is in the description) and to connect each missile launch node to corresponding microcontroller node
