Description
This mod adds a plethora of Mobian cosmetic options from the Sonic series, mostly from Forces, for use with XCOM soldiers and faction heroes of either gender.

And when i say "a plethora of cosmetic options", i mean it. This mod basically soft-adds a new species to the game in the form of cosmetics, so be aware as your part lists will be noticeably longer to scroll through.

The mod's file size remains very small for how much it adds, however. This is both due to being cooked, and because the Sonic art style generally doesn't require very detailed assets.

These parts tend to have more detail in their geometry than their textures, which is great for keeping the file size down as even the most detailed models tend to use less space than big (2048x2048+) textures, and most textures here are only 512x512 in size, sometimes 1024x1024.

I tried to adjust their proportions to fit the XCOM rig while taking care to not ruin their designs. Body-wise they're mostly the same, but they have smaller heads, hands, and feet.
Obviously it's different to how they usually look, but in my opinion, i think it works well...

...for the Forces Avatars, but it's definitely odd seeing the named characters who have established proportions running around with the same bodies the Avatars do.
You can remedy this with the various clothing and gear options. They all look pretty good in tactical gear, for example.

FEATURES:
  • Parts for every single category. All of them.
  • A metric crap-ton of mix-n-match potential.
  • Colorable fur, skin, and eyes.
  • Tintability for most parts, along with variants.

PARTS:
  • Heads (Heads, Race 0/Caucasian)
  • Bang Extensions (Hair)
  • Helmets & Face Props (where do you think)
  • Bodies (Torso)
  • Clothing + Accessories (Torso Gear, Thighs)
  • Chest Fur (Hair & Face Props)
  • Tails (with physics!) (Shins)
  • Gloves (Left/Right Arm)
  • Shoes (Legs)
  • Elbow & Knee Pads (Shoulders/Forearms)

NAMED CHARACTERS:
  • Amy (Head, Clothing, Shoes)
  • Blaze (Head, Clothing, Tail, Shoes)
  • Knuckles (Partial) (Head, Tail, Shoes)
  • Shadow (Head, Body, Chest Fur, Gloves, Shoes)
  • Silver (Partial) (Head, Chest Fur)
  • Sonic (Head, Body, Shoes)
  • Tails (Head, Body, Chest Fur, Tails)

REQUIREMENTS / SUGGESTIONS:
  • Community Highlander - REQUIRED for the heads and edited materials to work without crashing.

  • Invisible Body Parts For All - REQUIRED so you have a way to take off auxillary body parts.

  • All Armour Avenger - Soft required, because without this, all your mobian soldiers will use the human underlay uniform when spawned on the Avenger, which will look really stupid.

  • Customize Soldier Size - Soft required, unless you don't mind playing with oversized mobians.

  • Resizable Armor - More in-depth customization than CSS at the cost of not saving size settings to the character pool.

  • One Million Colors - The vanilla game has terrible color control, so you might want this or another color palette expander.

  • Head Options for Skirmishers - Allows Skirmishers to have hair tinting, circumventing the 3rd issue in Known Issues.

???:
Q: Allies Unknown expansion when?
A: Likely never from me. Lots of code work that i couldn't and/or didn't feel like figuring out last time i attempted it.

Q: XCOM human versions of these body parts when?
A: Don't count on it.

Q: What the ♥♥♥♥ is a "mobian"?
A: The semi-official species name for sonic furry people, usually only used in side material like the archie comics.

KNOWN ISSUES:
  • No facial animations. Would likely need to do some animation black magic to make this a reality.

  • Helmets and Face Props don't fit the named character's heads perfectly, as they have different shapes from the Avatar heads.

  • Skirmishers don't have hair, ergo, no hair tinting, so any mobian skirms you have won't be able to have their fur colored.

  • The heads use custom eye textures, so if you use EYExtender it'll overwrite those textures and give you a monstrosity with hyper-realistic human eyes.

CHANGELOG:

CREDITS:

  • Sonic Team & Sega - Creators of the Sonic The Hedgehog series and almost every asset used in this pack.

As much as it pains me to say it, I agree that I do not recommend using Player Dollhouse if you are using many mods. Especially if you have "unconventional characters". I tried it, dropped it the next day and went back to Unrestricted Customization.

I wish the part of PDH that allows you to set colors for armor pieces independently was turned into a standalone mod. That's the only feature I really ike.

I reinstalled the mods PDH "replaced", hopefully Tails doesn't look like my sleep paralysis demon.

That's the neat part - you don't. :)

I did try giving this EyeX support years ago, but it was a pain in the ass to work with as the color hexes i'd punch in to the config file never matched what they were *supposed* to look like in-game, so i dropped it.

PDH probably shouldn't be used, honestly - dude came in, made the mod, fixed *some* bugs with it, then dipped out back in September, leaving PDH in what's essentially a perpetual beta state.

Any way to add the eye texture seperately so EYExtender / Dollhouse can work with this or will I be giving Sonic & pals all aviators from now on?
Luna LeFay 19 May @ 3:44pm
I think Project Dollhouse might have a similar issue to EYExtender.

The eyes are messed up for me, is it due to project dollhouse or what?

late, but should note -- anyone else having that issue with UCR should be able to toggle off the Gender filters at the top of the parts list to let you use whichever version of the tail (or any part) on whichever gender. Since the tails here are exactly the same for Males & Females, there's nothing to worry about, nothing jank should occur from doing this.

It's the best option you'll have until i update the mod... however many years later, lol

@Max No biggie if you don't have the time for such things. I can deal, but I should probably keep UCR as I've probably used it for many custom characters by now.
Max  [author] 13 Apr @ 3:36pm
I COULD just, duplicate the archetypes so Males & Females all have unique archs, but i've also put making small updates to this on hold as i was in the process of making a massive overhaul to this, which... i honestly don't know when / if i'll finish, lol.
Max  [author] 13 Apr @ 3:34pm
No, UCR is the problem. It hates when parts use the same archetypes between them, and the Tails here use the same archetypes for both Males and Females, making it trip up and only display the parts for one gender.

Also happens with parts that are included in multiple categories, but the Tails only belong to the Shins slot, so it's 100% a gender issue. Funny, since that bug is supposed to be fixed in UCR, but i guess it's not as this problem still persists in a lot of places.
