Description
"Men who seek gold, glory, and adventure by destroying the enemies of their employers. Survivability or assurance that the task will be completed is not guaranteed but glory to those who did both and lived to tell the tales to newer hires in the mercenary company!"

1.2 Update as of 2022/12/07

Description

This mod adds human mercenaries to playable human factions (I'm sorry Norsca mains). These units are meant to be a step-up from current vanilla units in their respective roles as front-liners, anti-large units, ranged units, and cavalry. All of the units are quite pricey in terms of upkeep and initial cost. Unfortunately I was unable to replicate "instant recruitment" like with the ROR system. The initial goal for the mod was to replicate a mercenary recruitment system for short-term usage but I failed in that aspect. These units can be recruited from the Bretonnia, Empire, Grand Cathay, and Kislev infrastructure trees.

If you know where the colors are from, you def are an OG Total War player.

  • Mercenary Duck-Foot Cuirassiers
  • Mercenary Company Captain (limited to only one in the campaign until the unit's death)
  • Mercenary Cuirassiers
  • Mercenary Cuirassiers-Carabiniers
  • Mercenary Hobelars
  • Mercenary Dismounted Cuirassiers
  • Mercenary Crossbowmen
  • Mercenary Pikemen
  • Mercenary Foot Guisarmiers (pole arms)
  • Mercenary Footmen (small weapons and a shield)

I wonder if ya could try using the Ogre Merc recruitment to give us instant mercs, some coding magic should be able to do so.

sweet, I will give it a go cus I was just waiting cus I thought all anims where messed up for thigns before 3.0! will give it ago cus its an amazing mod!

These units are using existing WH3 human animations and they seem to be working fine. One mod that I was developing messed up bad with the animations since they were using modified animations (mostly with file names and the changing of some bones/skeletons stuff, from what I recognized). This caused the units to not initiate an attack animation, T-posing, and doing a vaulting animation when there should be an attack animation.

However if there are any problems, feel free to let me know!

Does this need an update? 3.0 changed animations and broke them for just about everything

Sorry for the long wait, I thought I have replied at some point!

I have worked with the author for the AoR Recruitment mod before so I have communicated with him before. He was helping me with a collaboration mod but that's been put on definite hold for now (maybe, almost 7 months?). I am not aware if he's still active on modding WH3 either.

I haven't touched Warhammer 3 since I've built my new PC, though didn't change drives. If you know how to work the AoR mod, you could ask him to see if you'd be able to take the mantle on that sub-mod! Thanks for the heads up regarding the mod if it's still working!

@Cat on a Laptop I have a question; have you ever looked into the AoR Recruitment mod? I don't see any signs of that author updating, but he literally had a submod for yours, doing what you mentioned initially wanting to do.

I figured I'd make the point. I'd love the true old time experience, if you ever wanted to tackle updating that.
