Stellaris Texture Pack - Better Arcologies 4K

Description

NOT ACHIEVEMENT COMPATIBLE

This mod has a large file size and is only meant for higher end computers. The textures can slow down your game dramatically if your computer cannot handle it. If you have a lower end computer please download the 2K LITE version of this mod here:

If you use the mod Planetary Diversity and its add-on 'More Arcologies', please download the compatible version here:

It is not necessary to download both, please only use one or the other.

Better Arcologies is a re-imagining of my old mod Better Ecumenopoli, and is a complete re-work of the base game Ecumenopolis and Relic Worlds. I always found the base game Ecumenopolis texture to be ugly and lacking in variety. This mod adds new 4K textures for arcologies, with variation for each species based on ship set.

This mod includes the following:
  • 3 new custom made Ecumenopolis textures for each shipset/species, including Fallen Empires, for a total of 53 textures, as well as an additional texture from Immersive Galaxy.
  • 9 new custom made textures for Relic Worlds

Each species has their own light and planet textures, as well as their own colours. These textures are determined by the shipset you select at the start of your game.

This mod should be placed below Real Space if you use it.

This mod should be compatible with most mods on the Workshop as it is purely a texture mod and does not alter any gameplay. However, there are some conflicts that might arise below:

  • Planetary Diversity: This mod is NOT compatible with Planetary Diversity and will not work if you use both mods together. If you play with Planetary Diversity you must download the PD compatible version here:

  • Real Space: This mod is compatible with Real Space, however I recommend you download my Real Space Fix here, so you won't get any glitches:

  • Custom Shipsets: This mod works by coding the arcology textures to shipsets. Because of this, my textures will not appear if you use a custom shipset. Because there are so many shipsets on the Steam Workshop, I will probably not be creating any compatibility patches.(See 'Notes' below regarding this issue)

If you use a custom shipset, you can you console commands to get the textures to appear in-game. To get a list of the entity names you need to go into the mod file in your Steam Workshop folder (Steam>SteamApps>workshop>content>Stellaris) and then go to GFX>models>planets and look at the asset files. In-game, open your console menu and enter the code below:

EXAMPLE (Click on planet first)
effect set_planet_entity = { entity = humanoid_01_city_planet_entity_01 }

There are three entities for most textures, and most entities follow a similar naming structure (Plantoid_01, Necroid_01 etc...)

@Markey care to share the mod?

Disregard my last comment, I found a mod that allowed me to change the ecu textures via planetary decision and it worked!

Hello friend first your mod is incredible, but I'm having issues applying the new textures while having a custom shipset. I found the names of the textures in the workshop folder, but clicking on the planet and typing this command : effect set_planet_entity = { entity = STP_city_01_diff_4K }.

I've tried the other variations of that file like STP_city_01_norm_4K and STP_city_01_spec_4K as well as removing the extra stuff like norm or sepc_4K but still the same default ecu texture applies. I'd really appreciate if anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong, I'm also trying to apply this to Earth, if that helps at all !

Yes, this mod needs to be updated and I plan on making changes to the Commercial Arcology. But this takes time so please be patient.

Hello,
When using a custom shipset, will planets use the default textures or will it create errors?

Any chance of doing Hive worlds? I do not see them in Stellaris texture pack base game or on this one.
