Description

You will need a modified workbench or the mission editor to spawn this vehicle in.
DLC is not required to spawn this vehicle in, but it is recommended for this full experience. Without it, you will be unable to fire any of the Jitte's weapons.
Description: HES Jitte

The HES Jitte is an Opdracht-Class patrol corvette of the Jitte subclass. Initially launched in 2003, the Jitte was the third Opdracht-class to be brought into service with the Frisian Naval Prefecture - the defensive navy & "coast guard" organisation of the Kingdom of Frisia.

The HES Jitte is an 89m multirole warship that sprouted up as a subclass of the Opdracht-Class patrol corvette. It forgoes the original vessel's enlarged helideck and firefighting equipment for a 76mm bow deck gun and a helicopter hangar on the stern.

The HES Jitte started its life as an Opdracht-Class. During its service life, in 2009, while operating overseas, the Jitte was struck by and subsequently critically damaged by an Exocet anti-ship missile (to which it lost 27 hands), although was able to be towed back to port. The Jitte would undergo heavy modifications, being retrofitted with a hangar and 76mm main gun, with the firefighting equipment found on standard Opdracht-class corvettes removed. The Jitte thus started a subclass of the same name under the Opdracht-class, and so, between 2010 and 2018, a further 12 ships would be converted to the Jitte standard.

Today, the HES Jitte is assigned to the 7th Territorial Navy of the Frisian Naval Prefecture, operating alongside its sister ship, the HES Opdracht, with whom it conducts customs, search & rescue, and border patrol operations.

Usage Q&A

How can I use the autocannons turrets?
To use the autocannons, navigate to the bridge of the ship, and then go through the door at the back. There will be four consoles along the back. From left to right, these are the portside autocannon, starboard autocannon, roof camera, and bow gun control consoles.

How do I start the engine?
To start the engine, simply go to the lowered console next to the helm (driver seat), and turn the 'ENGINE FUEL VALVES' key. Then turn the throttle next to that up to full, before turning the ignition key. This should start the engine. When it fully starts and starts to rev down, turn up the final clutch throttle to full. The ship should then be ready to operate.

How do I refuel the ship?
Well, first off, I'm impressed you even got that far. But, there are two little holes on either side of the ship (in the deck, next to the RHIB stowages) where you can attach a diesel hose. There is a button inside of that hole which will turn on the pumps to pump fuel into the tanks.

Why is it taking so long to sink?
Bulkheads.

Where are the RHIBs?
I didn't put any because (1) I haven't made any RHIBs yet, and (2) because I wanted there to still be /some/ FPS left when you spawn this in.

Where are the ropes and hoses?
The orange 'bags' dotted all over the walls of the ship are actually hidden inventories. They store ropes, cables and hoses (some only have ropes, depending on where they are). This is where you can find the ropes you need. Alternatively, just take them from the mast.

Where is the autopilot?
There isn't one. Real life ships (especially in the early 2000s) rarely, if ever, have an autopilot fitted to them, and this is designed to emulate that sort of semi-realistic feel. I may add one in the future if it's overwhelmingly needed, but, for now, you can use trim (hold Alt and W until it reaches 1.00) as a cruise control and send it in the direction/bearing you need it to go in. You can reset it by holding Alt and S and resetting the axis to 0.00

How is this different to the Opdracht?
Firstly, the Jitte has no firefighting equipment, but better offensive armament that makes it more lethal in combat. Secondly, it has a helicopter hangar that should be able to fit most small and medium helicopters, as well as some containers and other cargo. There is a smaller helipad, though, so be careful when landing - there's less room for error. Third, the Jitte has an armoured CIC behind the bridge, which is where its turrets/cameras are operated from. And, finally, it looks a bit different.

Something that's meant to be working isn't working. What do I do?
Please make sure you comment below what it is that isn't working. Either I missed something in testing, or you are doing something wrong. If something is broken, I will update the vehicle file with a fixed version, and if you're doing something wrong, I'll be more specific in what you need to do.

Wait, I have more questions!
Direct your questions to the comment section below. I read and respond to all of my comments.

Known Errors

Lowered FPS when sonar is active
This is a game issue rather than my own, but the sonar is very laggy when on active mode. If you want to minimise lag, make sure it's always set to passive unless you need it. You can turn off other bridge monitors that you don't need to compensate.

the ship steers the same way any other waterjet ship steers - the water is deflected into a different direction, causing the boat to turn. this is how stormworks models waterjets too, and that is how my ship models waterjets.

i didn't know that... seems strange though. even if it is waterjet powered i don't see any reason for the ship designers to completely change the way the ship steers

it's waterjet powered, and it's fairly common for waterjet powered ships to operate this way, believe it or not. plus i don't feel like going back to necro an old build just to add a cruise control, and then copy that across to the billion other versions of it.

you literally implied you're all for realism in your description.

Nobody said anything about improving it. I like it how it is, and it's easy to remedy (and I have already explained how to remedy it-- it literally involves holding one key for a few seconds).

But, if you really don't like how it is, you're free to modify it to your liking-- it shouldn't be that hard to anyway, as you're saying yourself. Please don't come here telling /me/ how to make /my/ ships and then act like a cunt when I explain that I like it as it is.

'Oh This Build Doesn't Have A Cruise Control!!! It's DOGSHIT!!!!'

No one's here to improve your build, you have to do it yourself.
vyntra  [author] 24 Jul, 2023 @ 9:40am
I didn't do that because, firstly, I don't want random dials everywhere
Secondly, it's only like that because I'm using waterjets - if you used the ship, you would notice there's several throttle levers connected to clutches and throttles there.

It's a minor thing that you can easily deal with yourself-- I've already explained exactly how to get around it.
Have 21 Jul, 2023 @ 3:31pm
the throttle is outputted from the seat as a number, therefore you can connect it to any component that displays a number (gauge, dial, etc.). Besides, I'm not sure why you wouldn't just make a telegraph or a lever instead. I'm pretty sure a ship's captain isn't controlling the throttle with pedals...

except.. you do?

A navy ship that is built to be convenient in a game where you have no way of gauging what your throttle is set to
